THIS IS THE FINAL SUNDAY of our summer schedule with one worship
hour. We will meet this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. in Speakers Hall. I went by
the Speakers Hall yesterday and it appears that the entrances will all be
available this Sunday. That may not be the case later, but you will be aware
that the entrance by the finance office will always be available. I will be
bringing another message in our summer series on, "Steps to Confident
Christian Living." This Sunday's message:
"How to Face Life's Darkest Moments
With Peace!
I shared this past Sunday that someone contacted me and asked if I would
share a message that I had brought in the past. I'm going to try to do that. If
there are others of you that would like for me to share a thought, or message,
you heard from me and would like to hear again, let me know and I will
endeavor to do that. The countdown is on. I have only 8 more times to speak
before my ministry here in Friendship Church will conclude on the final
Sunday of this year.
It was announced that something new has been added. The church has
established an office at 77-711 Flora Road, just across Washington
Boulevard from the main gate. The office phone number is: 760-260-8640
that is available 24-hours each day. There is a receptionist in the building to
receive calls from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Pastor London's
extension is 1071. I will continue to serve you from my office and
continue to be available, as I have been, at 760-360-7050. The mailing
address for the church remains the same:
38-180 Del Webb Blvd., PMB 78
Palm Desert, CA 92211
I've been having a little fun this summer sharing some "observations," but
this has to stop - and it will with this issue of the FOCUS. Some of you have
told me how much you have enjoyed reading and sharing some of them.
Believe me, it could have been worse. I have done considerable editing on
some of this I have received. So, here are the final observations, at least for
now:
When at a loss for the right word to say, try silence.
When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
When someone asks you, "A penny for your thoughts," and
when you put your two cents in, what happens to the other penny?
Wherever I go, the world's worst drivers follow me there.
Wouldn't it be great if we could put ourselves in the dryer for
ten minutes and come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller?
You can tell a lot about a man by the way he handles these three
things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.
You cannot discover new oceans unless you have courage to lose
sight of the shore.
Worry is the darkroom in which negatives can develop
Man's way leads to a hopeless end -- God's way leads to an
endless hope.
A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing.
He who kneels before God can stand before anyone.
Don't put a question mark where God puts a period.
We don't change God's message -- His message changes us.
Suffering from truth decay? Brush up on your Bible.
Now, we look forward to another Sunday together. Your faithfulness during
these HOT summer days has been terrific. Let's anticipate another great time
together in the presence of our Living Jesus.
