2nd Quarter 2016
Total City Wide Criminal Code Offences/Drugs
Total Criminal Code offences reported in the second quarter of 2016 show a decrease of -56 reported
offences or a % of change = -1.45 % compared to the second quarter of 2015. Drugs for second quarter
2016 show a decrease of -2 offences or a % of change = -1.04 % compared to second quarter 2015.
Property offences account for 49% of reported C.C.C. offences, while crimes against persons account for
13% and other criminal code offences account for 38%.
Property Crimes
Property crime shows an increase of +62 reported offences or +3.29% of change.
Stolen motor vehicles increased by +2 offences or a % of change = +3.39%.
Break and Enters decreased by -58 offences or a % of change = -29%.
Fraud decreased by -4 offences or a % of change = -1.61%.
Violent Crimes
Violent crimes has experienced a decrease in the second quarter of 2016 compared to 2015 by -53 offences
or a % of change = -9.71%.
Robberies decreased by -18 offences or a % of change = -38.3%.
Homicides have experienced an increase in the second quarter of 2016 by +1 incident or a % of change of
+100% compared to the second quarter of 2015.
Attempt murders remained unchanged with 4 in 2015 and 4 in 2016.
Assaults decreased in the second quarter of 2016 by -33 incidents with 448 reported. Assaults account for
91% of violent crimes in the second quarter of 2016.
Other Criminal Code
OCC includes prostitution, gaming/betting, offensive weapons, and other criminal code offences (arson,
property damage, indecent acts, counterfeiting, etc). Counterfeiting offences have decreased by -2 in the
second quarter of 2016 over 2015, and wilful damage under $5000 has decreased by -40 offences in 2016.
Prostitution offences increased by +5 offences in the second quarter of 2016 over 2015.
Please note offences such as drug and prostitution are sensitive to directed enforcement and detection.
Fail to Appear and bail violations have increased by +35 offences in the second quarter of 2016.

Assaults
Assaults Level 1 account for 62% of the total Assaults in the 2nd quarter of 2016 compared to
62% in 2015 and experienced a -7% decrease in 2016 over the same period last year.
Assaults with a Weapon Causing Bodily Harm accounted for 14% of the total Assaults in 2016
compared to 16% in 2015 and experienced a -16% decrease over the same period last year.
All forms of Sexual Assaults combined accounted for 17% of the total Assaults in 2016
compared to 13% in 2015 and experienced a 22% increase over the same period last year.

Total Criminal Code offences reported in the second quarter of 2016 show a decrease of -67 reported
offences or -1.29% compared to the second quarter of 2015. Drugs for second quarter 2016 show an
increase of +13 offences or +4.5% compared to second quarter 2015.
Property offences account for 50% of the reported Total Criminal Code offences, while crimes against
Persons account for 13% and Criminal Other offences account for 37%.
Property Crimes
Property crime shows an increase of +97 reported offences or +3.88%.
Stolen motor vehicles increased by +6 offences or +6.38%.
Break and Enters decreased by -56 offences or -18.3%.
Frauds increased by +33 offences or +10.44%.
Violent Crimes
Violent crime has experienced a decrease in the second quarter of 2016 compared to 2015 by -56 offences or
a change of -7.99%.
Robberies decreased by -20 offences or a change of -36.36%.
Homicides increased by +2 incident in 2016 compared to the second quarter of 2015 or +200%.
Attempted murders increased by +1 offence in the second quarter of 2016 or a change of +16.67%.
Assaults decreased by -35 offences or a change of -5.6%. Assaults accounted for 92% of violent crimes in
the second quarter of 2016.
