There are two books . The first book was initiated, compilation started, in the spring of 1949 by a group of mothers who lost sons in the Second World War , calling themselves „Memorial Cross Mothers, London, Ontario‟. When the group first met on April 27, 1945 ,their fourth aim as a group was “ To prepare a Book of Remembrance , with a picture of each boy.” “ The names of all London men who gave their lives, were to be therein recorded.” [London = London Area] The book was unveiled in 1950. The second book was compiled in 1999 by Vimy Branch 145 , Royal Canadian Legion , as a community service . Their goal was to include : “Londoners who were omitted, and Portrait memorials of Londoners entered by name only, in the first book. Londoners Who Paid The Supreme Sacrifice In The Korean War.” Each book is uniquely displayed in a hand-carved wood lectern with a glass top cover.
