And also this: I have been seventeen years old for over a century." Huckleberry Finn by way of Frankenstein, Zebulon Finch is a novel that isn't much about the plot but the unique characters and situations encountered along the way. From traveling medicine shows, to turn of the century Boston, to the underbelly of Prohibition-era New York, you have never seen an America like this. Although marketed as a teen book, stylistically, thematically, and content-wise Zebulon Finch is very adult and very dark. An unputdownable doorstop of a book, a second volume is on the way, but not nearly soon enough. - Kristin All Staff Picks are available through the Ocean State Libraries system Colleen Bittersweet by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune by Bill Dedman Irrational Man (DVD) JAYNE The Road to Little Dribbling: Adventures of an American in Britain by Bill Bryson The Natural World of Winnie the Pooh: A Walk Through the Forest that Inspired the Hundred Acre Wood by Kathryn Aalto Hamilton: Original Broadway Cast Recording (CD, available on Hoopla) NeuroTribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity by Steve Silberman Mary Anne After You by Jojo Moyes, read by Anna Acton (Audiobook) Inside the O’Briens by Lisa Genova The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman Niles American Scoundrel: The Life of the Notorious Civil War General Dan Sickles by Thomas Keneally Boss Tweed: The Rise and Fall of the Corrupt Pol Who Conceived the Soul of Modern New York by Kenneth D.
