Positive Behaviour for
Learning
Hi everyone,
Welcome to the final newsletter for term one. As I write this it is raining very
heavily. It reminds me just how hot and dry it has been for the last couple of
months. We are really fortunate at Geebung Special School to have air
conditioning, a pool and lots of shade on our oval. These provide positive
conditions for learning by allowing students to as be cool and settled as
possible.
Congratulations to LJ & Alison who
were our Students of the Week last
week.
We recently held the Annual General meeting for our P&C. A big thank you to
the large number of people who attended. Congratulations to our new P&C
executive
Jane Board -President.
Kerryl De Felicis -Vice President.
Vanessa Thomas -Vice President.
Kylie Renwick-Knight- Secretary.
Carolyn Potts -Treasurer.

Tuckshop – Julie Sim
The committee and the school would like to thank Helen Wallace for her many
years on the P&C
Committee, with the last 3 year being President. Her contribution to the school
has been magnificent and I know highly appreciated by staff, parents and
students.
Staff Member of the Week

Thank you for all of
your hard work at
Geebung
All the best,
Class 4 has had a wonderful start to the
new school year and already we’re on a
fantastic
learning
journey
together.
Alongside the other junior classes, we have
started implementing the Walker Learning
Program. The class are learning to engage
with the investigation tables set up for first
session in the morning. Eve and Charlotte
have the makings to be great friends and
enjoy getting messy in the sensory area
together. Violet has made some amazing
buildings in our construction area. Then she
enjoys knocking them down again just as
quick. Nataliah enjoys cooking up a feast in
the home corner which supports our
cookery program beautifully. Together we
are excited to see where this school year
takes us!
Class 9 has had a great first term getting to know each other and
becoming friends. Two of our classmates have had birthdays so we
wanted to give them a party. We read the big book ‘Monster Party’ and
talked about what we can do at a party. We then used our PODD to find
the words we needed to write our own story about how we can sing,
dance, play and jump. We enjoyed cooking a special cake for our friends,
putting up decorations, and singing Happy Birthday with Auslan.
Harmony Day activities have been a big celebration in our class with each
student having a different heritage. We have learnt about the countries of
Africa, Tonga, Myanmar, Italy and Scotland. It has been fun to practise
saying the name of each country, finding them on the map, looking at the
traditional costumes, music, painting the flags and cooking some of the
foods like Italian pasta and Asian rice. We made a power-point with our
comments about our own countries to show our parents on Harmony Day.
