Character Mind Map Instructions: 1. Choose a character from The

Character Mind Map
Instructions:
1. Choose a character from The Crucible (from Act 1 or 2).
2. On a sheet of paper, draw an empty head- no eyes, no mouth, etc.
3. Analyze your character: list at least FOUR quotes from the text and FOUR phrases/adjectives
that describe the thoughts, actions, motivations, and influences for your character.
4. Make sure to put quotations around your quotes and properly cite them. Do NOT make up your
own quotes! You will get zero credit if you do so.
5. Creatively put together your quotes, phrases, and other symbols/drawings to bring your
character to life.
6. Explain how you analyzed your character on a Google document and share it with Mrs. Hong so
she can give you credit for it. Answer the following questions as you analyze your character in
this document:
a. First, introduce which character you chose to analyze from The Crucible.
b. Is the information you included on your map direct or indirect characterization? If you
have both, explain:
i. Direct characterization=TELLS the audience directly what the personality of the
character is- for example: “Reverend Parris is a mean, stingy person.”
ii. Indirect characterization=SHOWS things or HINTS at things that reveal the
personality of the character- for example: “Reverend Parris slapped Abigail
across the face” SHOWS that he is a mean person, but I didn’t directly tell it.
c. Using one of your quotes, fill in the following sentence and finish it:
i. The character of ______________________ proves to be
___________________ when he/she states,
“_______________________________________________________________”
(page #). This emphasizes ___________________ is
________________________ because
__________________________________________________________.
