A woman’s lifetime earning power equals her lifetime buying power. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 is Equal Pay Day, the symbolic day when American women’s pay “catches up” to what men took home by December 31 of the previous year. The date represents the fact that women working full time, year-round in the United States are typically paid just 80 percent of what men are paid. At the current rate, the gender pay gap won’t close until 2152 — and we’re not happy about it!
