Local Allocation of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and Engine Number Members of the public are hereby informed that the National Transport Authority (NTA) has revised the allocation of the Vehicle Identification and Engine Numbers of motor vehicles and trailers and motorcycles under the circumstances mentioned below. If the original chassis number is not legible or defaced or not found (check list code ‘R’) and if the vehicle is repaired after an accident and the original VIN is not available or defaced or engine changed/engine number defaced/engine plate defaced or illegible (check list code ‘B’) to current owners or companies (check list code ‘Y’) is being allocated on payment of the prescribed fee. In line with the above, current owners (including companies) of motor vehicles and trailers and motorcycles are hereby requested to apply for the local VIN or Engine Number at the Registry Section of the main office, Cassis in the recommended form (available at the counters of the Plaine Lauzun and Forest Side Vehicle Examination Centres and main office, Cassis and NTA website nta.govmu.org) with the documents required as per the respective check lists.
