The Church of Saint Dominic 2015 Stewardship Report “Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God.” ~Job 37:14 our mission statement The People of Saint Dominic Parish form a community of faith and worship in the Roman Catholic tradition. from the pastor’s desk Dear Parishioners, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of our mission at St. Dominic Parish. As the Eucharist is the center of our faith we all have been called to “active participation in the life and ministry of Jesus.” We live and serve to bring the Good News to others so that we may “foster spiritual growth in ourselves and others.” Our parish has a long history of welcoming all and “spreading the Word of God through Christian education, through response to global concerns, and through dialogue on the Church’s social teaching concerning issues of the day.” Thanks to all the staff and those who serve in so many ministries. You make the Good News come alive and serve the People of God. This past year has been a year that we have seen changes and challenges to our community. The merging of our school into a new school, Southington Catholic, challenged many to see beyond the local school to a new vision: a Catholic school serving the people of Southington. I know that it has been difficult for many but I would encourage you to treasure the past and look forward to the new realities all around us. Consolidations and mergings are common place in many areas of our culture. The Archdiocese is now engaged in a plan to merge offices, parishes and schools so that we may meet the challenges of the future, while still continuing to provide for the needs of our community. The purpose is to use our resources wisely as we prepare our young people to be the future disciples of Christ. I sponsored a four week seminar based on the book, “Rebuilt”, and invited members of our ministries to attend. In the coming months you will all be invited to share your thoughts on where our church should be headed in the coming years. I see a bright future. Together we can meet the challenges of our time as we prepare our members for discipleship. Sincerely, Called to active participation in the life and ministry of Jesus, we strive to live the Good News of the Gospel and to foster spiritual growth in ourselves and others. Our parish offers a welcoming presence to all, reaching out to the spiritual, material, emotional and social needs both of parish members and of persons beyond our parish. We spread the Word of God through Christian education, through response to global concerns, and through dialogue on the Church's social teaching concerning issues of the day. parish statistics diocesan collections Parish Population Adults (18 & over) Young Adults and Children (Under 18) Average Weekly Attendance Number of Families 4,632 1,800 1,118 2,226 Religious Education Preschool to 10TH Grade Lay Teachers and Assistants Students Vacation Bible School 151 800 114 Sacraments Children Baptized RCIA Persons Confirmed Persons Receiving First Eucharist Marriages Funerals 2015 Archbishop Annual Appeal 89,086 Catholic High Schools 1,355 Peter’s Pence 1,963 Catholic Communications 1,172 Catholic Relief 6,122 Catholic Elementary Schools 1,482 Propagation of the Faith 5,014 Campaign for Human Development 2,064 Retired Religious 3,988 Miscellaneous 62 2 73 93 9 48 112,246 ====== 2014 88,240 1,128 1,374 823 1,841 1,495 4,887 1,408 3,968 1,866 107,030 ====== Online Giving is a secure direct payment program that allows you to automatically contribute from your checking, savings or credit card account into the church’s bank account.
