Timing of your application is important with these herbicides Monobor Chlorate – Bare spot One quick, easy application of Monobor Chlorate provides nonselective, season-long residual control of unwanted broad-leaf weeds and grasses. The pellets will readily dissolve, even a light morning dew will hasten solubility and the movement into the soil. A light rainfall or sprinkling is required to move the material into the root zone. Once in the root zone, the active ingredients are absorbed by the plant, causing it to turn brown. Root pruning also takes place. Smaller, succulent weeds are affected first; larger plants will yellow and turn brown at the tips as growth stops. Within days, the foliage and root systems of weeds and grasses die. A residual barrier remains active in the upper soil to control latergerminating seedlings. Use Monobor in driveways, fence lines, along side buildings and sheds, or any non-crop area where weeds are a problem Monobor-Chlorate can be applied by hand (wear gloves) or with any spreader suitable for granular materials. Casoron 4G works on the growing points (new root and shoot tips) of germinating seeds or emerging perennials by inhibiting cell wall production. Because of this mode of action, application before weed seed germination or emergence provides the best control and eliminates the need for removal of unsightly dead plant material. With an active period of from 4 to 7 months in the soil, a single application will usually provide season-long weed control. Apply 1 – 2 pounds per 100 square feet for general vegetation control. Apply 2 – 4 pounds per 100 square feet for perennial weeds. Monobor-Chlorate is nonselective. Do not apply near desirable vegetation. Do not apply where run-off is likely or where weather conditions favor movement away from target areas. Casoron 4G Casoron® 4G controls weeds underground, before they emerge, by forming an herbicidal vapor barrier in the upper layer of soil when activated by rainfall or irrigation water. Existing weeds rooted in this vapor barrier soon die off and any weed seeds germinating in or below the barrier are killed when new roots and shoots contact the vapor barrier. Deep-rooted perennial weeds are prevented from emerging. Plants with roots below the barrier are not harmed. Application Rates: Around Woody Ornamental plants and in Non-Crop areas 100 to 200 pounds per acre or 4 to 6 pounds per 1,000 square feet *Notice: Always read the label. There are restrictions on using with newly transplanted ornamental plants.
