Zero Year: Upon completion of checklist items above and receipt of
this document, the aforementioned colony/interest group/chapter
will become a zero year affiliate of the Interfraternity Council at San
Diego State University. There can be no more than 10 zero year
affiliates. There is an unlimited timeframe to be a zero year affiliate.
See Additional Notes below regarding IFC MEMBERSHIP.
Responsibilities of a zero year organization include:
 Complete application to become a Registered Student Organization and receive
recognition from the University.
 Update/maintain accurate records within the Registered Student Organization
system to continue to receive recognition from the University.
 All members/new members must complete Greek Registration and be listed on
the official roster of the University in the Registered Student Organization
system.
 Greek Accreditation: Must meet all minimum requirements to be eligible for
advancement to first year.
 IFC Head Tax: None.
 IFC Executive Board: Ineligible.
 IFC Events: Any which fulfill minimum Greek Accreditation requirements.
 IFC Recruitment: Advertising and activities shall begin on the designated start
date of IFC recruitment. *
 IFC Delegate Meetings: President and Delegate are required to attend weekly
meetings, but will not be counted in any votes. Participation in discussion is
highly encouraged.
 Greek Life Activities Board (GLAB) Executive Board: Ineligible.
 GLAB Events: Ineligible. *
 Order of Omega Executive Board (O of O): Ineligible.
 O of O Membership: Eligible.
 O of O Events: Ineligible. *
 Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol (GAMMA) Executive
Board: Ineligible.

*IFC may vote to allow participation and enforce stipulations.
First Year: By fully meeting the responsibilities of zero year, any zero
year affiliate may appeal to the IFC President to request a vote of the
IFC Delegates to advance to first year. An affirmative vote of 2/3 is
required to advance. A maximum of 1 colony/interest group/chapter
may be in first year at any given time.

date of IFC recruitment. IFC may vote to enforce any of the following stipulations
including paying IFC chapter recruitment fee, limiting the number of chapter
events, etc.
 IFC Delegate Meetings: President and Delegate are required to attend weekly
meetings, but will not be counted in any votes. Participation in discussion is
highly encouraged.
 Greek Life Activities Board (GLAB) Executive Board: Ineligible.
 GLAB Events: Eligible. *
 Order of Omega Executive Board (O of O): Ineligible.
 O of O Membership: Eligible.

 By 365 days from the date of promotion to first year, the first year affiliate must
meet the first year responsibilities to be eligible move to probationary. If this
does not occur, the first year affiliate automatically moves back to zero year.

Full Member: By fully meeting the responsibilities of probationary, a
probationary affiliate may appeal to the IFC President to request a
vote of the IFC Delegates to advance to full member. An affirmative
vote of 2/3 is required to advance. Full members are granted every
responsibility and privilege as outlined in the IFC Bylaws.
Additional Notes:
STUDENT ORGANIZATION HANDBOOK: All organizations from zero years to full members must abide by
all policies outlined in the Student Organization Handbook.
MODIFICATION: This timeline may be modified by the University, Headquarters, and/or IFC Delegates
with a 2/3 vote. All modifications must be incorporated into the original timeline, highlighted, and dated on
the document. The University, Headquarters, IFC, and group will be emailed an updated timeline upon any
modifications.
IFC MEMBERSHIP: IFC Bylaws denotes organizations eligible for membership in the IFC be
(inter)nationally affiliated, social, male fraternities that intend to promote a positive fraternity experience to
collegians. The University reserves the right to deny zero year affiliate status to any organizations which have
been removed from campus for any reason.
