Reading Workshop
Students will continue to grow ideas about
characters as we read The Tiger Rising. We
are learning to pay special attention to any
details that the author repeats about a
character ( traits, behaviors, objects etc.)
and to ask ourselves, “Why did the author do
this?” “What does it tell us ?”
We will debate our different view points
about characters and focus on defending our
thinking by quoting specific words, sentences, and passages from the text .
People who are successful at
anything are people who are
willing to put in the time and
work at it.

Writing Workshop
We will finish drafting our Small
Moment narratives this week.
Students are learning to write
strong endings, differentiate what
it means to revise and edit their
stories, and to peer conference
with a classmate. The students are
looking forward to typing and sharing their final narratives with the
class.
Math
Current Unit of Study: Addition and
Subtraction
Our focus next week will be choosing
the correct operation to solve an addition and subtraction word problem. We
will continue to practice subtracting
numbers up to a million using more than
one strategy. The graded DOM quiz will
come home on Tues-day. Please review
any missed problems with your child.
