In synergy with the FEEU Project The FEEU (Fingerprint Exchange in the European Union) Project All parties involved from the start, ACRO, NCB LONDON and IPSG First exchange of fingerprints commenced 20/10/2011 Sent every week via a secure file share on i24/7 where they are downloaded by INTERPOL. From October to December a total of 2200 fingerprints were sent to INTERPOL from ACRO INTERPOL recommendation for data exchange What to send Why INTERPOL? The FEEU Projects compliments INTERPOLs objectives – we can play a role. Database already exists for member countries use INTERPOL can manage high volume submissions All member countries can connect to the database Data restrictions in place therefore data is secure Provide tangible results, relevant to both the European and International arena. AFIS Gateway 190 members countries Message response to the requesting country Hit notification message for the owner country I-247 of NIST file transmission Open interface AFIS Gateway candidate no hit Automated Fingerprint Identification System Benefits for the FEEU Searching against data from 190 member countries Automated no hits once the Gateway is in place One hour reply for verified hits Providing intelligence that can be passed on to national UK police forces in a timely manner Benefits for INTERPOL Proving we can assist and adapt to Member Countries requirements Creating a database of relevance for all 190 Member Countries Increasing the data set stored at INTERPOL with relevant data respecting INTERPOL recommendations Providing a good service with limited manual intervention Resources The introduction of IDENT1 to ACRO means the exchange will be extremely efficient Uploading files to INSYST is easy and takes only 5 minutes per batch of ten fingerprints. Verification of results is rapid In INTERPOL the High Volume Import means 300 prints can be inserted into AFIS in one go Updating PNC and sending intelligence to other UK police forces efficiently Fingerprint processing, collation and analysis of results, message to ACRO is all completed within one day. Success 1) Hit made with fingerprints sent from ACRO against fingerprints in the INTERPOL AFIS from Romania for a national there who had committed aggravated theft. On further investigation it was discovered that the individual was WANTED by Romania and that there is a warrant out for his arrest – A GREAT RESULT!
