Good morning everyone, and welcome back to Spencer County Schools for another week of teaching and learning! Running back and forth from Governor's Cup in Mt. Washington to Louisville for KSBA on Saturday, I could barely contain my joy when I heard of the sweeping results from our elementary schools during the prestigious academic event! SCES won the Quick Recall Competition followed by TES as the runner-up! Members of two accomplished teams are as follows: SCES: Jack Baird, Jack Kennedy, Rico Walker, Carter Ward, Dillon Tipton, Zander Shaw, and Ethan Adams; TES: Cameron Smith, Duncan Manganaro, Isaac Bruck, Hunter Campanell, Stephen Perry, Gabe Bowling, and Bradley Coulter! TES was runner-up in Future Problem Solving while SCES placed third. TES Future Problem Team consists of Cameron Smith, Isaac Bruck, Emily Roberts, and Gabby Davis! SCES Future Problem Solving Team consists of Jack Baird, Jack Kennedy, Ashley Jones, and Rico Walker! Individual Written Assessment winners were Jack Kennedy (Social Studies; SCES), Bendon Harrelson (Science; SCES), and Sarah McAuliffe (Composition; SCES). Duncan Manganaro placed 2nd in Science (TES), while Carter Ward pale 2nd in Social Studies (SCES) and Sarah McAuliffe placed 2nd in Language Arts (SCES). TES was also awarded the Hume Sportsmanship Award for integrity and Character throughout the competition! SCES was crowned overall Champion! Congratulations to all for representing Spencer County Schools with dignity and respect! Congratulations to Caden Little from SCMS for winning the District Spelling Bee, while Emily Roberts was crowned TES winner and Carter Ward crowned SCES winner! Congratulations to Hillview Academy on their recognition as a finalist for the annual "Alternative Program of Distinction!" They qualify for an upcoming site visit from a team of educators in hopes of being named as the top alternative program in the Commonwealth! Congratulations to our newest National Board Certified Teachers Lilian Mathews and Ashley McGaughey from SCMS! Susan Tappan, Nichole Hutchins (SCES) and Tracy Sztanya (TES) were also successful in their recertification efforts for NBCT! Today begins 'Read Across America' month! Also, Today is the opening window for the TELL working conditions survey. TES will have a SBDM Meeting this evening at 5:00. On Tuesday, SCHS Juniors will be taking the ACT at SCHS. SCMS Volleyball will host New Haven on Tuesday beginning at 5:30. SCMS will host Parent Involvement night on Thursday. SCES will host a Spring Fling Dance this Friday from 4:00-6:00. SCHS will host a Pancake Breakfast Saturday morning at Spencer Christian from 8:0010:00. SCHS Baseball will host their annual Chili Supper and Auction Saturday evening from 5:00-8:00.
