Strategy 2010/2011 – 2015/2016 which aims to reduce the loss of life, physical suffering
and economic costs associated with traffic / road accidents.

To formulate a five-year National Road Safety Strategy for 2010/2011 – 2015/2016 to
implement the National Road Safety Policy – 2009 including an approach to institutional
capacity building; and

To Assist the Ministry of Infrastructure Development in collaboration with the Ministry of
Home Affairs in launching the National Road Safety Strategy for 2010/2011 – 2015/2016.
Task 1: Identify and analysis of the existing status and elements and concerning traffic safety. Generate a
basic structure and status report with comments.
Task 2: Compare data of relevant nations with comparable traffic scenarios, review it’s comparability to
Tanzania’s situation, trends, measures and development.
Task 3: Recommend the local structures and resources to execute the necessary steps, appoint the
supervision activities, to receive accurate data.
Task 4: Generate a Strategy implementation and activity plan for the future development of the Tanzanian
National road safety in consideration of the growing national and international volume of traffic.
Task 5: Derive from said general plan the proposed road safety strategy measures, including the commercial
aspects, arrange the workshop and come to an in depth discussion with all involved parties and stakeholders.
Task 6: Adapt the first proposal of measures, concepts and activities and enhance the Road Safety Strategy
concerning the key points with the results of the precedent workshop.
Task 7: Generate the derived processes and structures including the commercial activities. Prepare the Draft
Final Report and present it at the workshop.
Task 8: Prepare the Final Reports, Processes, and Milestones and present the results to the initiators of the
