Why should I consider leaving a gift in
my Will?
During our lifetime unfortunately many of us are unable to give
as generously as we would like due to personal circumstances.
Leaving a gift in your Will is one of the best ways to leave a
lasting legacy.
It is a gift with the power to transform lives well beyond your
lifetime and will make a real difference to people who need it most.
Who should benefit from my Will?
Making a Will can be enormously satisfying. It provides a rare
opportunity to objectively assess your life and to review your
relationships. Deciding who will benefit from your Will is deeply
personal.
For most people, the first priority is to provide for the immediate
needs and future security of family, relatives and others who have
been close during your lifetime.
Once you have taken care of your loved ones, you may want to
leave a gift to a charitable cause that is close to your heart such
as Anglicare Southern Queensland.

Anglicare Southern Queensland?
Leaving a gift in your Will to Anglicare Southern Queensland will

Jessie’s story
Anglicare Southern Queensland would like to share
with you a story about Jessie, who was homeless and had
absolutely nothing, only the clothes she wore, when she fled from
her violent home. Jessie came to Anglicare Southern Queensland
for support and since then her life has changed for the better.
It demonstrates how, through your generous giving, we can
continue to support young people, like Jessie, and many people
across all our services to improve their quality of life.
Jessie fled her violent home with only the clothes she wore.
Sixteen year old Jessie came to Anglicare, after escaping
an abusive home with an alcoholic father and both parents
violent towards each other and to Jessie. Tragically, from
the age of eight, Jessie was also subjected to regular
sexual abuse by a relative.
Jessie continued her schooling through all this, fitting
in studying, household chores and caring for younger
siblings. When the violence, abuse and burden of
responsibilities became too much, Jessie hit crisis point
and attempted suicide.
Like many other young people, Jessie came to Anglicare
with absolutely nothing. Thanks to Anglicare Jessie was
provided with safe crisis accommodation, and assistance
with clothing, school needs, transport costs, applications
for Centrelink, and medical care.
Jessie is very happy where she is now and says, “Thank
you to everyone who helped me escape a situation that
was both depressing and un-liveable. I am glad to have the
Anglicare staff, and will be forever”.
