high-energy music and spectacular stage
show. They are perhaps best known as the
first live band to reach the final rounds of
“Britain’s Got Talent” and for their award
winning viral video,“Bring Me Sunshine”,

even been prescribed by a doctor!
This swinging sextet average 300 shows a year and

with Van Morrison and John Travolta. They’ve played to
capacity crowds at The Royal Albert Hall, Buckingham
Palace, Glastonbury Festival, London Olympics and have
graced stages in 40 countries, including major theatre
tours in the USA.
They famously cheered up a grumpy Simon Cowell and
wowed the judges on “BGT”. Other TV appearances
include: “Strictly Come Dancing”, “Children in Need”
“Good Day Los Angeles” and “The Alan Titchmarsh
Show”.
Guest singer for the tour is Amy Baker, a sensational
young singer from Portsmouth, whose warm, jazzy
vocals invoke such legends as Keely Smith, Ella
Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee. Her debut album has been
getting airplay on BBC Radio 2.

Isle Of Woman are three strong and individual women,
who use stunning rich beautiful harmonies to sing
about bare bones reality. Think Joan Rivers meets
the Andrews Sisters or Fascinating Aida with a hint
of 40s close harmony. Whether musing about breastfeeding in the zoo, the fate of pubic hair, No More
Page 3, raising a disabled child or the phenomenon
that is Boris Johnson, they will have you laughing one
moment, and crying the next. Accompanied on the
piano by yet another extraordinarily talented woman,
IOW are spreading their joy throughout the UK and
Ireland in the Spring of 2017.
The show is a mix of raucous, sharp and witty comedy
anthems, heartfelt songs and relaxed honest chat
expressing life for women of a certain age. The songs
are all original from numerous female writers, creating
an amalgamation of real women’s views on many
topics from dating to career, politics, relationships,
feminism and single parenthood. All seen from 3 very
separate female standpoints - It’s a feel-good, uplifting evening which will see
the audience leave smiling from ear to ear. Isle of

importantly real.

Simon’s life is a bit of a mess, and his girlfriend Rosie
spends all their disposable income and all of their
non-disposable income on alternative therapies that
he just can’t seem to get his head around.
Kate his best friend doesn’t really encourage the
“holistic” life-style that Rosie craves. Kate likes a
drink or two, doesn’t do relationships and isn’t really
helping him to settle down into the steady life that
Simon’s found himself in. She’s also broke and not
that bright...
After a jealous Simon accidentally witnesses Rosie in
a particularly disturbing and expensive skin on skin
therapy session with a decidedly dodgy practitioner,
Kate decides to take Simon’s slowly downward
spiralling life into her own hands.

A Hamster in a Bathrobe follows Kate and Simon’s
journey of creating and ultimately becoming
successful at practising a therapy that doesn’t actually
exist. Much to their surprise the world embraces their
wild ideas with open arms but that brings Simon a
whole new set of problems.
Follow the hopeless duo’s hilarious journey and find
out if Simon and Rosie’s relationship can survive his
fake success. Will Kate and Simon’s friendship get
lost along the way? Will Kate ever understand that a
placebo isn’t a band? And where’s that hamster....?

GERRY & THE
PACEMAKERS
FERRY CROSS THE MERSEY
In the early sixties, Gerry and the Pacemakers worked
the same Liverpool/Hamburg circuit as the Beatles and
many other groups before being signed in 1962 by
manager Brian Epstein, as his second group after the
Beatles.
The following year, under the direction of producer
George Martin, they burst on the scene with three
consecutive No.1 hits –“How Do You Do It”, “I Like It”
and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” – proving themselves
serious competitors to the Beatles.
Over the next few years, most of the Pacemakers
subsequent hits were actually written by Gerry
Marsden, including
“It’s All Right”, “I’m the One”, “Don’t Let The Sun Catch
You Cryin’” and “Ferry Cross the Mersey”(also the name
of a film in which they starred).
Box Office: 01323 80 20 20
The group disbanded in 1966 but was reformed by Gerry
in 1974. They continue to tour in the UK and worldwide
– “I love being on stage performing for people all over
the globe”, says Gerry – and audiences continue to
flock to their concerts. “Gerry Cross The Mersey” is a
journey down memory lane with Gerry performing all
the great songs from his repertoire.
It really is a wonderful show and like Gerry himself,
continues to be in great demand all over the world.
Gerry will be joined by Special Guest. Top comedy
entertainer…Mike Lancaster

The RHT’s box office phone number is 01323 80 20 20. Is

Concessions
Where indicated, concessions are available for over 60s,
jobseekers, people with disabilities, students in full time

suitable ID may be requested. If there is no concession price

Accessibility and Carers
Online
The RHT has an old style hearing loop in the stalls area only.
The RHT has two wheelchair spaces accessible at street level.
We no longer issue free tickets to carers unfortunately. Carers
can get 50% off the top priced ticket for shows on production of
an East Sussex County Council Carer’s card. This is a scheme
for locals in the county. The number of carer’s tickets per show
are limited and in some cases are not available. The discount is
available at the sole discretion of the management.

Please note that transaction fees will apply to on-line purchases.
Transaction fees do not apply when tickets are purchased in
person or on the telephone.
Unfortunately we can no longer accept payment by cheque nor
postal requests for tickets.
Booking Fees
Almost all shows have a theatre levy within the ticket price. For
many incoming productions, the majority of the ticket income is paid
to the production company or promoter. The theatre levy is retained
by the RHT to help cover the costs of selling tickets.
Additional booking fees are charged when you purchase on line on
our website and others. The cheapest way to buy tickets is to speak
to a human on the phone or in person.
Theatre vouchers
The RHT is a member of the National Theatre Tokens scheme
and accordingly accept these. Unfortunately we are no longer

Theatre Access
The auditorium doors will open 30 minutes prior to the show.
Become a Friend?
The Friends were formed in 1992 with the intention of ensuring the continued use of
the Royal Hippodrome Theatre for which they successfully obtained Grade II listed status.
The Friends raise funds and give their support in a number of different ways. The Friends
work closely with the management to promote a cultural community initiative which
will enable the theatre to become an important part of the Devonshire Ward regeneration.
Over the years amongst other things the Friends have donated for stage lighting, heating
and house tabs restoration.
Many friends are active Front of House volunteers and run tours of the theatre. Members
enjoy social events, discounts off shows and newsletters. Why not join the friends?
You will receive a warm welcome. Pick up an application form from the theatre foyer.
Royal Hippodrome (Eastbourne) Community Interest Company
Although the venue is owned by Eastbourne Borough Council, this venue is now operated
under licence by the Royal Hippodrome (Eastbourne) Community Interest Company and not
Eastbourne Theatres.
Any comments or complaints should be directed to the Community Engagement
Director, RHT, 108-112 Seaside Road, Eastbourne, BN21 3PT or by email:
[email protected].
Box Office: 01323 80 20 20
There are a number of ways
the local community can get
involved here at the RHT.
If you are a local business or person
who wants to contribute more:
Come and talk to us about potentially
getting involved with the second
phase of the process and becoming
part of our community interest
company.
If you want to become one of our
Volunteer Ushers:
The RHT’s front of house staff are
mainly drawn from able and willing
volunteers. As well as getting to see
the show (or at least most of it) that
they are ushering, these volunteers
will receive vouchers to use to
purchase tickets for shows at the
RHT of their choice (subject to
availability) after serving a minimum
number of shifts.
Interested in marketing and
spreading the word:
The RHT needs help to spread the
word of the changes we are making
at the Royal Hippodrome. You can
help by simply following us on social
media (we are on twitter @royalhippodrome), or if you fancy
going the extra mile, why not become
a leaflet and poster distributor?
Sponsorship and Advertising:
Being associated with a project such
as the RHT could bring your company
or business a great deal of positive
attention. If you would like to talk to
us about sponsoring a show, an event
or a project or about advertising in
our programmes, then please contact
us by e-mailing
[email protected].
Have or want experience in
Sound/Lighting/Stage
Management?:
Come and talk to us about getting
involved at the RHT. We may not be
able to pay you, but you can gain
valuable experience that would look
good on a CV. If you have experience
and are available as “get out crew”,
then send us an email at
[email protected] and
ask to be added to our database.
