Question 1: Discussion of changes proposed by administration
Consider each of the changes proposed by administration
Proposed change #1
a) Record all answers.
b) Prioritize and record top ideas (max of 3). You will report to plenary about these.
Proposed Change #2
a) Record all answers.
b) Prioritize and record top ideas (max of 3). You will report to plenary about these.
Proposed Change #3
a) Record all answers.

Question 2: Review of current attendance areas against principles.
a) Consider the principles and record all observations
Contribution to the viability of all the division’s schools
Consideration of transportation efficiencies, where possible, such as:
- bus routes
- bus capacity
- ride times
- road networks
Consideration of community input
Reflection of the density of population
Reflection of natural geographic boundaries (ie. Bridges, rivers)
Discussion:
The Eleanor Hall attendance area does align with these principles. The only possible
issue is with ride times for some students. Although they live fairly close to the school
(15 minute drive by car) they have long bus rides – up to an hour. Can we improve on
this? One parent in at meeting has child riding bus for 1 hour from Rge Rd 250 and Twp
Rd 612.
What top 3 themes emerge?
1
b) If the group feels current attendance areas do not adhere to a principle(s)
i.
ii.
iii.
Draw the suggested change on your map.
Describe suggested change.
Include rationale for suggested change – which principle does it address?
c) Prioritize top ideas (max of 3). You will report back to the plenary.
Eleanor Hall attendance area has a high enough density of students to sustain it long term.
If all of the students who are choosing to attend other schools in the division, returned to
Eleanor Hall, it would be quite tight. The c-prep program would have to be moved from
where they are now. There is some undeveloped land close by that if developed, would
bring more students into the school.
Question 3: Suggestions for the school board going forward
a) Record all ideas
Be sure the bus ride times do not increase.
Question: Are the ride times as efficient as possible?
Times of school day – at 8:15, busses start coming in. Last bus arrives at 8:30.
School starts at 8:40. School day is done at 3:40.
b) Prioritize top ideas (max of 3). You will report back to the plenary.
Reflection after plenary discussion
Record your group’s observations after the plenary discussion.
- Is there a suggestion they support?
- Is there a suggestion they absolutely disagree with?
