EDUCACIÓN BÁSICA PARA ADULTOS
The ABE Program instructs students in basic skills which include reading, writing, and mathematics.
These courses will help prepare students to enroll in higher-level courses, such as Adult High School
Diploma Program, GED, or college credit. Elective high school credit may be earned upon successful
completion. Recommended for Intermediate ESL 2 students or above and/or placement by
counselor assessment. Grade: CR/NCR only.

LEADERSHIP BASICS TRAINING, PART 2 /
ENTRENAMIENTO DE LIDERANGO BÁSICO, PARTE 2
In Leadership Basics Training Part 2 students will learn to apply learned leadership techniques in the
workplace, home, community and at school. Students will increase their knowledge in team building,
public speaking, brainstorming and more. Students who fulfill the attendance requirements may
receive five (5) elective credits towards their high school diploma and a Leadership certificate. En la
clase de Entrenamiento de Liderazgo Básico Parte 2, los estudiantes aprenderán como implementar
las técnicas de liderazgo en el trabajo, el hogar, la comunidad y la escuela. Los estudiantes ampliarán

The Adult High School Diploma program is self-paced and individualized. Classes are offered on
an open-entry/open-exit basis throughout the year. Each student has an individualized educational
plan to complete his/her personal graduation requirements. All students must see a counselor prior
to enrollment. Counseling and tutoring services are available in the classrooms. Classes are offered
at Centennial Education Center and Santa Ana College. Students can attend any day of the week,

The GED test preparation course prepares students to take the four official GED tests in Reasoning
through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Social Studies, and Science. El curso de

SPANISH LITERACY FOR ADULTS /
ALFABETIZACIÓN EN ESPAÑOL PARA ADULTOS
Assists native Spanish-speaking students in acquiring literacy in Spanish in order to facilitate their
transition to beginning ESL courses and Spanish GED, while earning their Primaria and Secundaria
Certificates through the Mexican Consulate. Focuses on basic reading and writing skills, including
phonics, decoding and encoding skills, as well as classroom and community coping skills. Taught
in Spanish. Asiste a estudiantes de habla hispana a adquirir alfabetización en español para facilitar
la transición a cursos de inglés como segundo idioma (ESL) para principiantes y la clase de GED

Class Cancellation Policy
Any class with fewer than 20 students may be canceled.
Attendance Policy
Students are expected to attend all class meetings.
Students who are enrolled and absent on the first class
session may be dropped.
Who May Enroll?
Persons 18 years of age and over may enroll in continuing
education classes. Students currently enrolled in
secondary schools who wish to attend continuing
education classes may be admitted by special request
of the secondary school and approval by the CEC
administration.
All classes are free and operate on an open-entry/openexit basis. Registration is ongoing provided there is space
available in class. All classes are free. Enrollment is on a
first-come, first-served basis. Times listed for classes are
subject to change without notice from the administration.

Disabled Students Policy
Disabled Students Programs & Services (DSPS) provides

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS &
SERVICES FOR ADULTS
Rancho Santiago Community College District is comprised of
Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College. Each college
has a division of continuing education whereby free educational
programs and services are offered to adults. Educational programs
that are offered free of charge include Adult Basic Education (ABE),
Citizenship, Computer Applications, Computer Basics, English as a
Second Language (ESL), ESL/Family Literacy, General Education
Development (GED) Test Preparation, Adult High School Diploma
Program, Office Employment Training Program, and Spanish Literacy.
Each school also provides free services such as assessment,
academic counseling, career counseling, personal counseling and
orientation to all students. With the working adult in mind, classes
are offered days, evenings and weekends at our main sites and over
30 other convenient locations in the city of Santa Ana.

una división de educación continua en donde se ofrecen servicios
y programas educacionales para adultos. Los programas gratuitos
incluyen: Eduación Básica para adultos (ABE), Clases de ciudadanía,
informática en computación, computación básica, Inglés como
segundo idioma, preparación para la examinación del desarrollo de
educación general (GED), Diploma de Secundaria, entrenamiento
para trabajos de oficina, y alfabeticación en español. Cada escuela
también provee servicios gratuitos como asesoramiento, consejería
académica, consejería sobre carreras, consejería personal y
orientación para todos los estudiantes. Manteniendo en mente
las necesidades de los adultos, las clases son impartidas durante
mañana, tarde, noche, y fines de semana en nuestros locales
principales y alrededor de otras 30 convenientes localidades en
