The Fort McKay Group of Companies (FMGOC) recognizes that cleanup and recovery efforts in Fort McMurray, and the surrounding affected areas, after the fire will be a significant endeavor that requires a well-coordinated services. The FMGOC’s staff, clients and business partners have all been significantly impacted by this disaster, as well as the community of Fort McKay itself To address this challenge, we have brought together a group of complementary businesses to assist in Fort McMurray’s recovery. Fort McKay assisted in the emergency response through deploying its Firefighter Department, sheltering evacuees and well as a number of its member owned businesses provided emergency response services such as camps, busing, water and medical. Thankfully, Fort McKay’s infrastructure and community was not damaged. However, many community members and staff who have homes in Fort McMurray have been displaced. These efforts will be primarily conducted through the FMGOC and the three business partners it has assembled to collaborate on the fire recovery efforts. This Consortium will also provide subcontracting opportunities to local independent business from Fort McKay. In addition, subcontracting opportunities will be provided to other First Nations businesses including Seven Lakes Oilfield and Canada First Management Corporation. With cleanup and rebuilding plans underway, the Nation will also take a significant role in these efforts. FORT MCKAY FIRST NATION ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE THE NATION FIRST ENTERED INTO BUSINESS IN 1986 WHEN IT ESTABLISHED THE FORT MCKAY GROUP OF COMPANIES. FMFN is organized into three (3) units. The Administration unit is responsible for the provision of services and governance in the community. In addition, there are two (2) business groups. One business group company that has a companies.
