The most important aim of a facial is to affect a change on the skin. Facials are designed for different purposes such as Improve skin conditions (acne & dehydration) Relaxation Anti-ageing When following your skin care routine at home there may be some underlying issues that you are unaware of so as a part of most facials a skin consultation is performed to analyse the skin to ensure we are all doing the very best we can for your skin. With a combination of professional products and a pair of well trained, caring hands attention can be given to the areas that may be overlooked during your skin care routine at home great results can be achieved. Another great reason to receive a facial is to give you the opportunity to relax, away from the stresses of everyday life and enjoy some pampering. A facial massage is not really something you can give yourself. The moves performed in the massage by your therapist are designed for relaxation and stimulation this will help to improve skin tone and texture. MY TIP – Check out our Joyce Blok and Ella Bache facials – you will feel fabulous! A home skin care regime should include - cleansing, exfoliating, mask, toning & moisturising. During the day your skin attracts dust, dirt and pollution from the air. Even if you don’t wear make-up cleansing is still essential to remove these remnants from your skin. In some cases these could be potentially harmful, if you live in an urban environment with a lot of pollution. Cleansing The function of a cleanser is to improve the skins functions and remove: All traces of make-up (if wearing any) Surface dirt & bacteria. Pollution from the environment Congestion in pores. Overnight oil and waste accumulate on the skins surface so cleansing in the morning will help to remove excessive oil and waste. The action of massaging in your cleanser can even assist by helping to remove dead skin cells and stimulate blood circulation for a healthier, glowing skin. SKINCARE Exfoliant Exfoliation is the method by which the dead skin cells and debris are removed from the outer most layer of the skin. The effects of exfoliation are to: Improve skin texture Brighten skin colour Remove blockages Increase production of new skin cells Increase absorption of skin products So even if you don’t wear makeup cleansing twice a day is beneficial and an essential part of a successful skin care routine, or else all that accumulated dirt, grime, oil and waste will simply clog your pores and dull your skins complexion. Masks As well as improving the general condition of your skin, certain masks can also target specific skin care concerns you may have. Skin concerns that can be improved with the help of a mask: Dryness Ageing Damage Toners/Tonics Skin toners are used ensure complete removal of products being temporarily used on the skin and to rebalance the PH level of your skin to avoid irritation and protect against bacteria. When to use a toner/tonic: After cleansing After exfoliant After mask Moisturisers Moisturisers are to help the skin maintain an adequate moisture level. Your skins moisture is constantly be lost through evaporation it is particularly affected by: Exposure to the environment (sun, wind & cold) Central heating and air conditioning Ageing -as we get older sebum flow slows down Why should you cleanse twice a day?? Even if you don’t wear makeup cleansing is one of the most important steps of a skin care routine. If you don’t cleanse as your first step of your routine, all you will be doing is applying your serum, moisturisers & other skin care products on to a layer of dirt, pollution, make up (if wearing any) & dead skin cells.
