JOBDESCRIPTION:Ourundergraduateandgraduatewritingtutorprovidesupportforthisdiversepoolofwritersatvarious stagesofthedraftingprocessfornearlyanykindofwritingproject.Weoperateoutoffivecampuslocationstoofferthirty-to sixty-minuteindividualmeetings.Duringtutorials,writingtutorstypically:helpwritersgetstartedwithessaysbyreadingand discussingawritingassignment,evaluatingresearchmaterial,orbrainstorminganoutline;discusswaystoshapecoherent arguments,makestronguseofevidence,andworkwithappropriatecitationconventions;considerquestionsaboutdepthof analysis,organization,thesisdefinition,audienceexpectations,paragraphdevelopment,stylistics,orsentencestructure; supportbothnativeandnon-nativespeakersofEnglishtoidentifypatternsamongerrorsingrammarorusageandtodevelop effectivestrategiesfortheirownline-editing.Inshort,writingtutorsserveasresponsivelistenersandreaderswhocanaddress questionsaboutthewritingprocessoraboutparticularpiecesofwriting.Theymightalsoaddressissuesofconfidence,critical reading,analyticthought,andimagination.
