OBITUARY
Mrs. Robbie Lee Jones Trimble
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, though he
were dead, yet shall he live; and whoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die”.
Believeth thou this? John 11:25-26. “Because I live, you also will live.” John 14:19
Robbie Lee Jones Trimble was born on September 11, 1918 in Waverly, Alabama to the late
Casby Jones, Sr. and his wife Kizzie Corley Jones. She departed this earthly life for eternal
life on Tuesday morning, March 1, 2016 at East Alabama Medical Center while a resident
of Oak Park Nursing Home.
She entered Tallapoosa County Training School after the family moved to Camp Hill to be
near the new high school there for Negroes. After she graduated Robbie married Horace
Edward (“Jack”) Trimble on September 27, 1939. Mrs. Trimble was a substitute teacher in
Tallapoosa County for many years. She was a highly skilled seamstress and gardener, but
primarily was a homemaker for her husband and five children.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Mount Traveler Missionary Baptist
Church and faithfully served for many years as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible
School director, Deacon’s Wife, choir member, and Missionary Society President. Known
widely as Mrs. Robbie and Mr. Jack, they were devoted to Mt. Traveler Baptist Church and
to the Ebenezer District Association of churches. A true servant-leader, she was president
of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Ebenezer District Missionary Baptist Association from
1980 until 1998. Her strong commitment to education led her to undertake initiatives such
as scholarship funds in her church and in the Ebenezer District, a church library, and her
own jail ministry, in which she and other ladies visited the jail in Tallapoosa County.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Horace Edward “Jack” Trimble, Sr., her
oldest son, Horace Edward (Ruth) Trimble, Jr.; brothers Condolia (Helen) Jones and Casby
(Evelyn) Jones, Jr;. sisters Alice (Charles) Osborne and Melvin Jones. She leaves to cherish her beautiful, loving memory two sons, Angelo (Mary) Trimble of Montgomery, Alabama, John Condolia Trimble, Sr. of Camp Hill, Alabama, daughters, Dr. Sylvia (Robert)
Bozeman of Atlanta, Georgia, Sheree (John) Lockhart of Auburn, Alabama; daughters-inlaw, Ruth Trimble of Opelika, Alabama and Regina Trimble of Decatur, Alabama; sisters-in

PRAYER FOR GRANDMOTHER
Dear Lord,
We thank you for the gift of our phenomenal Grandmother. To the world, she is a picture of beauty, grace, leadership and confidence. But to us, she has always been much
more. She is…
Our chef, who always had our favorite meals prepared whenever we came around,
Our doctor, who with her medical book, provided remedies for all of our ailments,
Our prayer leader, who prayed without ceasing for her family over the years,
Our disciplinarian, who could get us all in line with just a look,
Our strong example of service, as she diligently served in her church and community,
Our spokesperson, who by example, demonstrated to us the power of speech,
Our attorney, who got us out of trouble on many occasions (even with our parents),
Our seamstress, whose hands sewed not only our clothes but others in the community,
Our model for responsibility, who rose early in the morning working diligently in her
garden, and who always got the job done,
But most of all, she is our love. Grandmother’s love for us reflected Christ’s love in all
that she did, said and was.
We thank you Lord for the gift of our Grandmother, such a blessing to us all.
In loving memory,
From the Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren of Robbie Trimble
Her Favorite Verse
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Phil. 4:13
I have finished now with his house of clay,
Please kindly and carefully lay it away.
And let me rest from this life of pain;
Toiling in sunshine, storms and rain,
I am tired now, so let me rest.
Don’t cry, don’t you know,
God knows best?
Trying to help the sick and poor.
And turning no needy from my door.
Please no sad hearts,
no hung down heads,
Don’t weep for me, I am not dead.
I strove to do my master’s work.
Never a duty did I shirk.
I have another house for you know
Where only God’s redeemed can go.
Many times I was misunderstood
When I had done the best I could.
I do not need this house of clay,
So, tenderly, and carefully, lay it away.
