Idioms | Lesson 19
kick the bucket | the best of both worlds | kill two birds with one stone | curry favor with someone | chink in one’s armor
Example Passage
I have always dreamed of being a superhero. They are strong, courageous, and honest. Plus,
they get the best of both worlds: they are respected as heroes, but are able to lead normal
lives.
In fictional worlds, they never kick the bucket. No, heroes always find a way to survive.
If I were a superhero, I’d have the ability to fly. In fact, I’d kill two birds with one stone; I
would save the day and get to work faster!
However, even superheroes have a chink in their armor. For example, Superman has
kryptonite.
I’ll never know how hard it is to be a superhero; but I am allowed to dream, aren't I?
