Here’s how guide word practice works:
You won’t need a dictionary.
You need the spelling paper that will be sent home each week.
You may want to write the alphabet on the top or the bottom of the paper.
Think of guide word practice as ABC order.
Guide words and spelling words are listed on the paper.
1. Look at the spelling word. Example: write
2. Where does the spelling word fit in alphabetical order? Does it come before
the guide words, between or after the guide words.
3. If the spelling word comes before the guide words, it would not be found on
the page.
4. If the spelling word comes after the guide words, it would not be found on
that page.
5. If the spelling word comes between the word, it would be found on that
page.

The word write comes after the listed guide words so it would not be found on this
page.
