Lyric Poetry Project

Lyric Poetry Project
Develop a poster that includes:
○ Title of song, author, lyrics and your name.
○ HEADLINE: Once you’ve drawn a conclusion about the theme of the poem (song), write a
catchy headline that summarizes the theme.
○ BODY 1: Support headline(theme) with 4 pieces of evidence from the list below. It’s not
enough to highlight the evidence, you must also explain how it proves your theme
1) figurative language such as imagery, simile, metaphor, personification.
2) sound devices such as alliteration, repetition, rhyme, onomatopoeia
3) quotes that don’t necessarily contain literary devices, but do prove your point.
(Note: This can only be 1 of the 4 pieces of evidence.)
○ BODY 2: Include 2 pictures (can be printed, cut from magazines or drawn) that relate to
your topic. Be prepared to defend your choices.
○ BODY 3: Include at least 2 POP-UPS with interesting facts related to your song, that will
help the reader to gain a better understanding of it. (EXAMPLE: Viva la Vida by Cold Play
was inspired by a painting of the same name by Frida Kahlo. I would also include a picture
of painting.)
