THE EQUATOR
After leaving Lake Nakuru National Park,
you will stop off at a supermarket to
buy lunch before heading north to the
equator.
At the latitude 0°, the equator is the
halfway point between the Northern
Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere.
Volunteers can participate in a science
experiment, designed to view the effects
of the Earth’s Coriolis effect.

DID YOU KNOW?
The land that lies on the equator,
marks the areas of the world’s greatest
abundance of natural biodiversity and
also human poverty
“One of my favourite things when volunteers
come is taking them on a safari through some
of the amazing places found in Kenya.”
- Julius Nderitu, Trip Host & Driver

THOMSON FALLS
After visiting the equator you will
continue north to Thomson Falls in
Nyahururu.
Named after European geologist Joesph
Thomson, who was the first European to
find the falls in 1883, Thomson Falls is
one of East Africa’s deepest waterfalls at
74m deep.
If conditions are favourable, and you
have good fitness levels, you will have
the opportunity to hike to the bottom
and get up close to the waterfall.

“Previous volunteers visting Nyahururu have
