Are Sloths Like Moths?

Are Sloths Like Moths?
By Alan Chase
Are sloths like moths?
I don’t believe so you see
Come take a fly!
I’ll show you, you’ll see!
Sloths are chordates
With a backbone and nerve chord
A digestive tract with two ends
Unbelievable! Unheard of!
The sloths all around
are grey with a greenish tint
and are between 50 and 60 cm. long
and they feel like lint!
Our friend, the sloth
Living in the Central and South American trees
Sleeps most of the day
And eats fruits and leaves!
The sloth mama
Will protect her young
From predators like ocelots
By scratching with her claws
Don’t get too close!
She’ll put up a fight
She might also try,
To give you a bite!
The sloths with big limbs
Aren’t very strong
They have low muscle mass
And they look like moss
Sloths are herbivores
They don’t eat meat
Can you believe that?
It’s an unbelievable feat!
Sloths are slow
But not in the head
They can live 10-20 years
They don’t even own beds
They hang from the trees
With their big claws
They don’t need to be strong
Even they have flaws
To answer the question
‘Are sloths like moths?’
They really aren’t alike
But they both don’t bike
Moths are insects
Sloths are mammals
It’s like the question
Are camels mammals?
