Emerikus Day
Emerikus Land Foundation is a non for profit organisation dedicated to
supporting bereaved parents through the loss of their baby/s, Started in
2013 after Ben & Sherri-Leigh Land lost their daughter Emerikus due to a
placental abruption at almost full term!
Ben & Sherri-Leigh founded Emerikus Land Foundation in August 2013, to
donate cuddle cots to maternity hospitals. Cuddle Cots allow parents 5-7
days with their baby in the comfort of their own room to say their final
goodbyes but more importantly to say Hello.
Emerikus Land Foundation also donates Memory Boxes to hospitals for
parents to create positive memories of their baby/s. Giving parents the “Gift
Of Time”
To support this amazing charity & honour Emerikus’s 4th Birthday, last
Friday the students had cup cakes with pink & purple icing, released pink
balloons and wore pink.

The main aim of the Tabloid System is to achieve
maximum child participation regardless of their
sporting ability. Every child is given an opportunity
to participate and score a result.
Parents are requested to encourage and cheer
children from the spectator areas only. Please do
not run with the children or mingle with children in
their groups. It will greatly assist organisers and
stewards if you would comply with this request.
Please note that children are all listed by the year
in which they were born, as is done with all
SAPSASA Sports.
YEL(Young Environmental Leaders
On Wednesday the 5th of April our year 6/7
students will meet with other leaders from
schools across the Riverland. The first
meeting will be held at Waikerie, our students
are looking forward to interacting with the other
students and learning how they can influence
and improve the local environment through
collective action.

Assembly/Last Day of Term
The next assembly is Thursday week 11, 13th
April at 2:00pm in the lower primary room. This is
also the last day of term and we will finish at
2:25pm.
Parent-Teacher Interviews
Thank you to all of those who came along to
the Parent Teacher Interviews held last week.
It was wonderful to see so many Parents take
up the opportunity to develop stronger homeschool connections. All the interviews were
very positive, as teachers were able to share
the high progress that our students have been
making. Please remember you are welcome to
make an appointment anytime throughout the
year to discuss your child’s education.
Childcare/Play Centre Building
The childcare/Play-Centre building renovation
is close to completion. It has taken longer than
expected, but the wait will be worth it, as the
bathroom will make it much more user-friendly
for our large number of Parents/Carers that use
the facility.
If all goes to plan, in term 2 the building will be
used by Family Day Care, which will offer
childcare for up to seven children or four
children under five. A lot of planning and hard
work has gone into making childcare a reality in
Blanchetown, and we hope that this service will
help to both attract and retain families to our
town.
Many community members have volunteered
their time to transform the building, and the
school and community is very grateful for you
work.
Thank you to local builder, Greg Kirk who has
passionately put in lots of time and effort to
create the extra room.
Thank you-David Zadow, for the countless
hours you have spent digging and preparing
the pipework.
Thank you to Bryan Johnson, Lliam Roberts,
Dietmar Ness, Ina Reynolds and Megan
Johnson for helping in a range of ways.

PCW NEWS I
Hi Everyone,
Once upon a time, a very strong woodcutter asked for a job as a timber merchant and got it. The pay was good and so
was the work condition. For those reasons, the woodcutter was determined to do his best. His boss gave him an axe and
showed him the area where he was supposed to work. The first day, the woodcutter brought 18 trees.
“Congratulations”, the boss said. “Go on that way!”
Very motivated by the boss’s words, the woodcutter tried harder the next day, but he could only bring 15 trees. The third
day he tried even harder, but could only bring 10 trees. Day after day, he was bringing less and less trees. “I must be
losing my strength”, the woodcutter thought. He went to the boss and apologized, saying that he could not understand
what was going on.
“When was the last time you sharpened your axe?” the boss asked.
“Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees……”
Our lives are like that. We sometimes get so busy that we don’t take time to sharpen the “axe”. In today’s world, it seems
that everyone is busier than ever, but less happy than ever. Why is that? Could it be that we have forgotten how to stay
“sharp”? There’s nothing wrong with activity and hard work. But we should not get so busy that we neglect the truly
important things in life, like our personal life, giving more time for our family , taking time to read etc. If we don’t take the
time to sharpen the “axe”, we will become dull and lose our effectiveness.

External School Review
Dear Parents/Carers
As part of our continuous school improvement, we will be involved in an
external school review with a review panel. The purpose of external school
reviews is to support schools to raise achievement, sustain high performance
and provide quality assurance to build public confidence in government
schools.
All government schools will be externally reviewed every four years.
The focus of the review is to evaluate school performance. The review panel
consists of a review officer and a trained review principal. The review will
occur on Monday and Tuesday 3rd -4th March.
We will find out the aspects of the school’s strengths that have been verified
through the review processes as well as the improvements that we need to
make in the future.
During the external school review the panel would like to meet with
Parent/Carers and Governing Council members.
On Monday the 3rd of April from 5:15-6:00pm, Governing
Council Members are invited to meet with the review team.
On Tuesday the 4th of April from 8:30-9:15am,
Parents/Carers are invited to meet with the review team.
