Free Movies
The Elderly Services free movie for seniors
will not be shown for the summer months. The
September movie will be ―The Proposal‖ starring
Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds and Mary
Steenburgen. A pushy boss is facing deportation
to Canada and hatches a scheme to have her
worker marry her. The movie will be shown on
Tuesday, September 20th, 1pm in the Thornton
Wilder Hall. Free Movie day is the 3rd Tuesday
of each month at 1pm. Come and enjoy!
Miller Senior Association
The installation of the new officers for the
Association will be held on Wednesday,
September 28th at 1pm in the Thornton Wilder
Hall. Please plan on attending and meeting new
members of a wonderful organization.
AARP Safe Driving Course
AARP Safe Driving Classes are the following
Fridays, by check only made out to AARP. $12 for
members, $14 for nonmembers.

New officers have been appointed to AARP
Chapter 3155. L.Henry Platt, President,

Assistant Treasurer, Ann Brown, Secretary, and
Elva Malatesta, Treasurer. See you all at the
meeting on Monday, September 12, 1:00pm in
the Thornton Wilder Hall.
Rent Rebate Program
Appointments are being accepted for Renter's
Tax Relief Program by the Elderly Outreach
Office at 203-287-2691.
Documents Needed Are:
2010 federal income tax, if you filed
2010 end of year bank statements
Social Security 1099 for year 2010
2010 end of year pension statements
All twelve rent receipts or letter from
Landlord showing what you paid in 2010
Payment history for water, gas, oil, or
electric (can be obtained from utility
companies)
All applicants must be 65 yrs. old as of
12/31/2010 or under 65 and disabled by
Social Security only. Must show proof.
Applicant's qualifying income in the
calendar year 2010 must not exceed
$32,300 if unmarried, or $39,500 if
married or other (see Outreach)
Senior Computer Classes Offered at Miller
Senior Center
The Hamden Elderly Services offers the
following computer classes: Beginners,
Intermediate and the Internet/Email.Classes are
$15.00 pp, $25.00 pp non residents. Memory
sticks are provided to New Beginners students
only.A check payable to the Town of Hamden
must be paid before class start date. If interested
in a class, please call 203-287-2547 to sign up.

Yoga
Yoga classes are held Tuesday and Thursday,
2:00 to 3:30pm except on movie days—yoga
starts at 3:30pm on movie days, also Friday
mornings-8:30-10:00 in Thornton Wilder Hall

Over Fifty Fitness (OFF) Program . Two
classes meet daily Mondays thru Thursdays
from 8:30-9:30 and 9:30-10:40. Anyone over 50
may register, and participants do not have to be
Hamden residents. Free trial classes offered.

NEW GUIDELINES for Farmers Market
Voucher Program!
The CT. Dept. of Agriculture has set new
guidelines for 2011 as funds have been reduced.
Client eligibility will be determined by their age
and proof of income. All clients MUST be 60
years of age or older AND their monthly
household income of not more than 185 percent
of the annual poverty income guidelines or
Family size (1 person) $20,146 or (2persons)
$27,213 . All participants deemed eligible to
apply this year must show proof of income and
residency. Signature required by person
obtaining the voucher and completion of receipt
page. Seniors NOT identified by proper
means testing shall not be given Senior
FMNP checks.
Please call before to arrange
appointment beginning July. Limited vouchers
may be available and not guaranteed.
Help Stop the Waste!!
The Senior Cafe needs to control the waste.
Each person is responsible for cancelling their
reservation for lunch the day before Tuesday
through Friday except holidays. Cancellation
calls should be made during the hours of 9a.m.
to noon by calling 203-287-0057 or 203-2872547. Thank you for helping the elderly
nutrition program. Contributions to FSW to
feed the elderly can be made by contacting
Andrea Sanchez at 203-368-5567 or

Annual Miller Senior Center Picnic
Tickets will be sold beginning August 1st to the
Hamden Senior Center Attendees for the annual
picnic which will be held on Friday, August 26.
The picnic will be 11:30am to 1pm. Miller
Seniors who regularly attend the Miller Senior
Center lunch program at the center have
priority. Tickets sell for $3.00 per person.
Each person must have a ticket and register.
Limited seating. The picnic will have a country
theme with a country band sponsored by In
Home Companion Care. Thank you to all who
contribute to our annual picnic, especially
