6 - Between frame dimension: What is your between frame dimension (BF)?
HOW TO SPECIFY THE LENGTH OF A POWER MOLLER:
In determining the correct length of the POWER MOLLER required, you should first obtain the
between frame width of the conveyor you will be mounting the POWER MOLLER in. If this
dimension is in inches, you should convert the dimension to millimeters, as all Moller tube lengths
are in metric units. From this dimension, subtract 15 millimeters for bearing end caps and
clearances to achieve the correct tube length. Subtract 21 mm when using “JQ” type shafts;
For the PM635FS the deduction will be 20366mm
mm, [14.41"]
PM763BS the deduction will be 30 mm, and for
Tube Length
the IP-G and HP-G rollers 35 mm.
5mm [0.20"]
Bearing End Cap
5mm [0.20"]
Bearing End Cap
2.5mm [0.10"]
Clearance
2.5mm [0.10"]
Clearance
381mm [15.00"]
Between Frame
Example: Between frame measures 15 inches. Converting to millimeters 15" X 25.4 mm / in. =
381 mm. Deducting 15 mm for bearing caps and clearances, 381mm - 15 mm = 366 mm. Tube
length will be 366 mm long. When in doubt, contact an Itoh representative to help you in selecting
the correct Power Moller for your application.

Important Formulas:
Tangential Force (TF)
1 - Tangential force is the force in lbs. that is needed to move the item on the conveyor.
The force tangent to the roller’s surface.
Tangential force F can be found by the following formula:
Formula 1
TF = µ X W
TF = Required tangential force
W= Weight of article to be transferred
µ = Coefficient of rolling friction in accordance with the material composition
of the bottom of the article to be transferred. (See Table I)
2 - To determine the number of POWER MOLLER units required for transfer, compare
required tangential force (F) and the tangential force of one POWER MOLLER unit (f)
Formula 2
Number of POWERMOLLERS required = F/f
