Promising, but still (7 years after…) need to be continued and monitored…
New technics used
Mires conservation in various forest complexes, 1995-2015
For drained bogs, ditches blocking
is standard, and effective measure
Knowledge necessary…
Specific problems:
IAS Spiraea tomentosa expansion
(North-American origin)

Degraded
raised bogs
Experience
Ca 300 mires
Ca 3000 ditches blocking points
Conservable if:
• Useless, or protected site
• Drained, but not so much degraded
• Single ownership
We have fully explored the possibilities
of conservation of conservable bogs
Even if more money would be
avaliable, there are no more
conservable bogs for conservation
Non-Conservable if:
• Management interests for the bog
• Management interests for the zone influenced
by water conditions improving
• Too much drained / degraded
• Not drained but degraded
• Multi-ownership
80%
If there is conflict of interests…
The ditches are still
draining 
