Dear McCormick Middle School Parents,
In order to maintain a focus on learning and to create a positive & safe learning environment, MMS will
implement a standardized dress code policy for our learners for the 2016-17 school year. In an effort to
ensure you fully understand our policy, we would like to clarify some of the earlier communication you
received about it. We used the term ‘uniforms’ previously for the sake of simplicity because that is what
most people believe a ‘standardized dress code’ is, but there is a difference. Listed below is an outline of
our standardized dress code. Please read it carefully.

Dress Code Policy
TOPS
 Polo Shirts
 Logo-free
 Tucked into bottoms
 White undershirt or grade level color t-shirt under
uniform shirt (optional)
 Jackets worn indoors must be solid gray, white, or navy
blue, logo-free, and not oversized
 6th grade: red shirts
 7th grade: gray shirts (light gray is acceptable)
 8th grade: blue shirts (dark, light, navy or royal)
SPIRIT DAY (Every Friday)
 School spirit T-shirt, college shirt or dress code shirt
with blue jeans (no other jean color), navy, or khaki
pants (no jerseys)
 Shirts tucked in
 Pants pulled up around learner’s waist
 No rips, tears, holes, or designs on jeans
 Jacket requirements same as M-Th
(ISS learners MUST wear regular dress code attire)
Other
 Hair bands must be worn on top of the head and not
around the forehead. Hair coloring, haircuts and hair
styles must not serve as a distraction to the learning
process.
BOTTOMS
 Black, Navy or Khaki (No denim jeans)
 Skirts, ‘skorts’ or shorts are acceptable
 Shoes must have a back and closed toed
 Skirts/‘skorts’/shorts must be ‘fingertip length’ (i.e. learners
must be able to touch fabric when their fingertips touch their
skirts, ‘skorts’ or shorts with their arms down and standing up
straight)
 Pants pulled up to hips (no sagging)
 Leggings are not allowed
 Cut-off shorts are not allowed
 No rips, tears, holes or designs on pants
FREE DRESS DAYS
 Tops must have sleeves and be free of inappropriate material
(i.e. alcohol/drug/sexual advertisements/jokes/pictures, etc.)
 Tops must be tucked in
 Pants/bottoms must be pulled up (no sagging)
 Jacket may be any color, but may not be oversized
 Closed-toed shoes with a back
 No more than three items may be worn of the same color
 No rips, tears, holes, designs on pants
 Must meet Hays CISD Dress Code standards


Shoes must be closed toe with a back (NO sandals or flipflops).
School spirit T-shirts will be on sale at schedule pick up
(Monday, August 15) for $10.00 cash only!

code attire. We have done some research and have found a few stores where you can purchase it. Please

Online option
Centex Recognition in Kyle (505 W. Center St.) will offer Tiger Logo Polo shirts for $10 each. On
Monday, July 11, shirts can be purchased online at www.ctrecognition.com. You’ll need to click on the
‘School Uniforms/Fan Gear’ icon. Thereafter, you select ‘McCormick Middle School’ and your child’s
grade-level shirt & size.
If you order the shirts online, they will be available for delivery on our schedule pickup day (Monday,
August 15), or you can get them from their office after they call you when the shirts are ready. You will
need to pick them up from their office if you want them before August 15. Additional shirts will be available
for purchase during schedule pickup on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Leftover shirts will be available
throughout the year for purchase at the office in Kyle or online.
‘Tiger Hoodies’ will be available online for $20 each on July 11 as well. They will take pre-orders
ONLY. You can also make orders during schedule pickup and through the first week of school. Orders for
hoodies will not be accepted after Friday, August 26 at 4pm. Please let us know if you have any
