August 2016
A Message from your pastor......
August is coming back around. That means even higher temperatures, sadly an end to the vacation season, and an
exciting beginning to a new school year. For some of you that don't have anyone in school in your home anymore, it
means a renewal of our regular year programming at FCPC. Chi-Rho is coming back, and Wednesday evenings will
get back to normal, kind of. When I say that, I mean that the Christian Education Ministry Team has been working
hard on some changes to the Chi-Rho and Wednesday Evening programs, responding to the comments and needs of
this community. Please support these ministries with your presence and your volunteer efforts.
We will have a special blessing of our children on Sunday, August 7th as we begin the new school year!
As I look to the future of our church, I am excited. I see things in place, I see a loving community, and I see people
who are excited about the opportunities for personal and communal growth here. I ask you to share those opportunities. Many of us know people who have kind-of given up on church. Let them know that this place is different. We
may know people who simply have never had a church community. Let them know that there is a place where they
can experience love from God and from others. We may know people who have been a part of this community in the
past but have not been in quite some time. Please let them know how they would be welcomed back into the FCPC
family.
May God bless you as we greet a new Christian Education year here at FCPC.
In Christian Love,
Pastor Chris
The Habitat for Humanity event on June 25th at Stones River Mall was a huge success! Total $ raised from our on-site bake
sale and personal church donations: $700.65. A BIG thank you was supplied to all volunteers who baked and/or worked the
bake sale tent (youth & adults). Several FCPC members helped build a house that day in the parking lot. *****Letter from
Habitat Director is included below.
Our next effort to support the first House of Faith Build will be Friday, August 5th at 11:00 am, located at 605 East Castle,
Murfreesboro . FCPC volunteers need to contact Megan Hutchings of Habitat at 615-890-5877, x106 to secure their spot in the
2-hour project. No building experience is necessary, they will instruct fully.
31
An additional build day on-site is set for Sept. 10 or 15th.
A Habitat for Humanity home owner will speak at FCPC on Monday, August 22nd from 6:30-7:30pm. The Murfreesboro
community will also be invited to attend to this powerful, personal testimony. From Sherry & Growth & Missions Committee

***** Thank you all for your wonderful support and participation in our Thrivent Builds Panel Build at Stones River Mall. We feel that the event was such
a success in engaging many people in the Habitat mission that we’ve submitted it for a State Impact Award at the Habitat of Tennessee State Conference in
July. The unique opportunity of Stones River Mall’s Kids Club: Habitat Builds and including kids and families made the event very special.
I’ve posted photographs of the event on our Face Book page, https://www.facebook.com/RutherfordHabitat/. I will have them on our website next week
– and can make a CD of them for you. I’ll also put together a video and post that on FB and our website.
The walls that we built on Saturday have been delivered to the build site (601 East Castle Street, thank you Conard Transportation!) and we’re signing up
volunteers for the construction now: [email protected], 615-890-5877 x106. Again, thank you for your support and for those who were there in the HEAT
and made the day very special for us and the community!

1st CP Church Family, I must say, I was so moved by all that my
church family did for my father, not just in his celebration, but the
years leading up to it. This is truly a church family. To all of you that
visited, prayed, sent cards, and even just asked and listened to me, I
thank you from the bottom of my heart.
In Christian Love, Teresa Rungee Hayes
