Kindergarten
Earth Cookie Social Studies (K.3.2, K.3.7), Math (K.CC.4, K.CC.6, K.G.3) Students will decorate a pizza sized
cookie that represents the proportions of the earth covered by water, developed land, and agricultural land.
The group will eat a “piece of the earth” when the project is complete.
ABC Scavenger Hunt Science (K.1.1, K.3.1, K.3.2, K.3.3), Social Studies (K.3.7), Math (K.G.1, K.G.2, K.G.3) While
walking around school grounds, students will identify objects that begin with each of the different letters. We
can discuss natural vs. manmade, determine what is litter, and the relationships between animals and their
environments—you tell me what to focus on!
Musical Trash Science (K.1.2), Social Studies (K.3.7) Totally fun, interactive, and educational! Each student becomes a type of trash in a hysterical game of musical chairs. Those that are “out” of the game go into the
trash can. At the end of the game, students will try to decide if they can be recycled, reused (and for what?),
composted, or left in the trash can to be hauled to the landfill.
The 3 R’S: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Science (K.1.1, K.1.2), Social Studies (K.3.7, K.4.4) Students are introduced
to the basics behind the 3R’s in a fun, interactive way.
Colors in Nature Science (K.1.1, K.1.2, K.3.1., K.3.3) Social Studies (K.3.5) Students will observe colors in
nature, discuss possible uses by Native Americans and early settlers, collect some items and draw/paint with
them!
Diverseedy Science (K.1.1, K.3.1) Starting with a mixture of different types of seeds, students will sort the
seeds based on their characteristics. We’ll then play a game of BingoSeedso!
Diversity in Nature Science (K.1.1, K.3.1, K.3.3) Ever noticed how many different types of trees surround you?
We’ll look closely at some leaves, describe similarities and differences, and play a leaf game!
