Northern California Junior Rodeo Association, Inc. A 501(c)(3), Non-Profit Organization Tax-Exempt Corporation #68-0160787 2017 JR/JR Awards Program Welcome to the 2017 JR/JR Awards Program for the Northern California Junior Rodeo Association. It is going to be a great year! The JR/JR program is intended for kids ages 6-9 that are able to ride independently in each of the events. A child may only enter in the JR/JR events with the exception of the family team roping. Age group is determined by the age of the contestant as of January 1. Proper rodeo attire is required, i.e., western hats or helmets, boots, and long sleeved shirts tucked in, and sleeves must be rolled down to the cuff. Birth Certificates are ONLY required for new members. Birth Certificates are carried over when possible. Sanctioned Rodeo Committees rely on NCJRA for age verification of our members. Committees reserve the right to require age verification with entries at their sanctioned rodeos. NCJRA can require a prospective or current member to submit a certified copy, if the information received is questionable. If a birth certificate is not sent with the first rodeo entry into NCJRA, fees will be returned. This may delay and/or void accumulation of points. JR/JR sanctioned events are barrels, pole bending, and goat tying. Some rodeos may have other events, however they will not be counted towards year end points and awards. Points are awarded to the first (1st) through tenth (10th) place in each event, and are tabulated by the NCJRA Membership Secretary. First place earns 10 points on down to tenth place receiving 1 point. Members at each sanctioned rodeo accumulate points. At the end of the rodeo season, in September, a finals rodeo is produced by NCJRA with the support of the sanctioned rodeo committees. The JR/JR finals will be held on Saturday of the Finals weekend in September. In order to qualify for the finals, JR/JRs must participate in at least 7 regular season rodeos and be in good standing. Year end point calculations will be based on each child’s top 7 rodeos. In order to provide our kids with great year end rodeo prizes for all of their hard work throughout the year, it is highly encouraged that each JR/JR supply a Minimum Sponsorship to NCJRA of $50.00. This is an opportunity to ask businesses in your community to help support youth rodeo through making a cash donation to NCJRA or sponsoring Finals buckles or prizes. Please make sure donation states your child’s name to ensure proper credit. Please see the 2017 NCJRA Sponsorship Form for more information. 2017 NCJRA SCHEDULE MAY 6th & 7th MAY 20th & 21st CLEMENTS BUCKAROOS JR. RODEO/NCJRA FUNDRAISER NCJRA FINALS IN OAKDALE NCJRA is a nonprofit organization established in 1982 to promote youth rodeos in California. The Association establishes and maintains standards and rules to govern all of the sanctioned rodeos for youth age 6-18. All NCJRA contestants and parents are expected to read and become familiar with the NCJRA Rulebook. Contact the Membership Secretary to get a printed copy of the rulebook or access the 2017 NCJRA Rulebook at www.ncjra.com on the Membership page. NCJRA is 100% operated by Parent Volunteers. The NCJRA Board of Directors is requiring one adult per family to participate in a Parent Work Program this year, in order for NCJRA to remain one of the best Junior Rodeo Associations in the state. There are a variety of ways that parents can volunteer - from timing, to arena help, to something behind the scenes to prepare for the rodeo. You must select an event to work in during the online entry process. Failure to complete the assigned task will result in the loss of your child’s points for that day of competition, and may result in ineligibility to compete at the next scheduled rodeo. It is acceptable to arrange for an alternate to work in your place, but it is your responsibility to ensure your “Parent Work Program” requirements have been met. No Exceptions! Parents be prepared to have western attire in case you are asked to work in the Arena. Please contact a 2017 Board Member for more information or questions about how you might be able to help. Find current information and updates at our NCJRA website at www.ncjra.com and become Friends with NCJRA on Facebook. The website includes up to date information on entries, contestant draw sheets, rodeo results, event points, sponsorship, etc. Ineligible list continued and enforced again this year if necessary. The following reasons can result in being ineligible: 1) Writing a bad check for rodeo fees and not clearing it prior to the next rodeo. 2) Writing a bad check to any rodeo committee and not clearing it prior to the next rodeo. 3) Misconduct to any rodeo official, local rodeo committee member or another NCJRA member. 4) Parental misconduct could also result in a member being ineligible. Each member will be accountable for proper language, rodeo attire, and general behavior. Parents/Guardians should also remember that their actions could result in their child being blacklisted. NCJRA promotes good sportsmanship and behavior. Please refer to the Conduct Code in the NCJRA Rulebook. If you have any questions regarding the JR/JR Program, please contact Holly Nunes at [email protected] or (209) 206-2854.
