Reminders!
*We are now in Unit 6: Equivalent Expressions and One-Variable Equations
*January 20 is “Grit Day” and the 2nd semester begins
*January 23 is Buccaneer Bash
*Our Unit 6 District Assessment will be on Tuesday, February 3, 2015
*Our Unit 6 Common Assessment will be on Wednesday, February 4, 2015
*Please make sure your child is coming in for tutoring if they need extra help.
*Homework will be given on Monday and will be due on Thursday.
*Math District Checkpoint Test is Thursday, January 29, 2015
Learning Objectives


Grading Policy:
If a student scores below 70% on an
assignment, scored as a daily grade or
major grade, he/she will be given the
opportunity to attend tutorials to
review/re-learn the objective. Upon
completion of tutorials, the student may be
given an alternative assignment to
demonstrate mastery. The grade on the
alternative assignment will also be
recorded in the gradebook and will be
scored out of 100%. The expectation is that
this assignment will be at the same level of
difficulty. This grade will also be recorded
in the gradebook under a separate heading.


Distinguish between expressions and equations verbally, numerically, and
algebraically
Determine if two expressions are equivalent using concrete models, pictorial
models, and algebraic representations
Generate equivalent numerical expressions using order of operations,
including whole number exponents, and prime factorization
Generate equivalent expressions using the properties of operations: inverse,
identity, commutative, associative, and distributive properties
