After School Clubs Important Information: Please read this letter carefully Dear Parents or Carers, Get your buckets and spades out, ready for a glorious summer! The summer holidays are fast approaching! We really hope you have a wonderful time during the break and get to spend some time together as a family. Before you know it the summer will have passed by in a blur and it will be time for the new academic year here at Whitehall Park School. I am sure that most of you already know me, but just in case you don’t, please let me introduce myself! I am Debbie Cox, the Extended Schools Leader here at Whitehall Park School. My role is to ensure that we provide our children with a wide range of fun and exciting extended school activities which includes before school breakfast club, after school specialist provision and after school care. Please do take a look at our section of the website to find out more about our extended school day. The reason for my letter is to bring to your attention all the different clubs and opportunities that your child might like to participate in. As well as some of the old favourites such as Spanish, Street Dance, Ballet and Arts & Crafts, I have now also added a new Tag Rugby club as well as a new drumming club. Within this information pack, you will find out a little more about each of the clubs on offer and how to go about booking a space for your child. We would advise you to book your place as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. After School Clubs will commence on Tuesday 13th September and finish on Friday 21st October except for Reception who will start on Monday 26th September with half term the week beginning Monday 24th October 2016. Please note there is an INSET day on Monday 12th September 2016. A summary of the After School Clubs and Care is as follows: Extended School Club Cost Après School Club – including a £8.00 per session meal Time 15:30 to 17.00 Twilight Time – including a snack 17:00 to 18.00, except on Fridays when After School Care will finish at 17.00. A further £4.00 for this session. Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit for all sporting after school clubs. We always recommend that a child keeps their PE kit in school each week, bringing it in Monday and taking it home on Friday to be washed ready for the following week. A meal will be provided for those staying for Après School Club, when pupils finish school at 15.30, they will be collected from their classrooms by our Extended Schools leader and taken to the ‘Club Room’. Children will then eat their meal, get changed into their Après School Club wear and their club will begin at 16.00 and finish at 17.00. For those children staying for Twilight Time; the pupils will gather back in the Club Room after their activity and be provided with a snack. However, if you would prefer, the children are more than welcome to bring their own favourite healthy snack along to these sessions. After School Clubs Method of Payment As we are a cash free school school we ask parents to use our e-payment method to pay for school trips and After School clubs. This can be done online using a very secure website called ParentPay. Parents who use Childcare Vouchers (CCV) will pay as usual but you will need to send confirmation of the amount paid to Marion [email protected] If you would like your child to take part in any of the After School Activities but feel that you may need an alternative payment plan, please email Debra Cox or pop into the office to organise this as soon as possible. We do have a small bursary and donation fund that is intended to be sued to support families who find it more difficult to pay for additional activities. Please note, Après School Clubs are allocated on a first come, first served basis. You will need to book early to avoid disappointment. Some groups can only run with a minimum number of children, if this number is not reached then unfortunately the club will have to be cancelled. In order for us to finalise the numbers and inform the relevant staff we would appreciate it if you could return the booking form and payment as soon as possible. We ask that both you and your child commit to the clubs of your choice for the term as there can be no refund once you have booked your club. Due to the difficulties in administering ADHOC sessions, these will no longer be an option in the Autumn term. Please see the copy of Terms and Conditions attached, you can also find these on the school website. Please note if you have any outstanding balance from the previous term you will not be allowed to book for the Autumn term extended schools clubs. The deadline for returning your booking form will be Friday 15th July 2016 and we will confirm by email as soon as your child has been successful in securing a place in After School Club. Please do not make a payment until we let you know when Miss Marion has put all the Autumn term links onto ParentPay, this will be in the form of an email in September with details of how to pay and your personal ParentPay activation code. Can I take this opportunity to wish you all a fantastic and hopefully, hot summer spending time with your loved ones. These sessions will be less formal than the Après School Clubs, but still offer children a broad range of experiences which will appeal to their interests. APRES CLUB DESCRIPTIONS AND MORE INFORMATION Arts & Craft Messy Time – Ms Suzanne Asphall The club will offer the children an experience and enjoyment in all aspects of art & design including painting, papier mache, collage, textiles and 3-D modelling. Children will be encouraged to express themselves and to be creative in a relaxed environment. Football- Mr Sam Ruff There are so many benefits of playing football, with one of the main ones being to increase their levels of fitness and to teach them the importance of exercise. It is also great for promoting confidence and the ability to work together as a team, transferable skills that they will continue to use and build upon throughout their lives. Street Dance – AJ Using a variety of music, students of all ages can expect to increase their strength, fitness, flexibility, balance and self-awareness in our fantastic new Street Dance classes. In addition to the physical benefits, dance offers the opportunity for students to develop important life skills such as self-confidence, motivation, independence and team work in an environment that is safe, engaging and enjoyable. Performance Art – Miss Amy from Supernova and Miss Hannah Let your child’s imagination explode with a different action adventure each week! They’ll travel to mystical lands, boogie with baboons, tickle an octopus or even blast off into space. Just about anywhere our imaginations take us! Our classes incorporate action storytelling, music, props, drama, movement, games and plenty of giggles!! Tag Rugby– Supersport Tag Rugby is a non-contact sport in which each player wears a belt with two Velcro tags attached to it. The mode of play is based on normal rugby with players attempting to dodge, evade and pass a rugby ball while defenders attempt to prevent them scoring by “tagging” – pulling a Velcro attached tag from the ball carrier, rather than full contact tackle. Stay and Play – Extended School Team This club is intended to ease the younger members of our Whitehall Park family into the After School Club setting with lots of children led play full of fun and games such as Lego, puzzles, drawing etc. Most children literally have to be dragged away!! French- Miss Claire Murat I use a fun approach to develop linguistic skills, introducing the children to the language and culture through games, stories and songs. I also aim to encourage a positive and open attitude to learning languages in general. For all parents wishing to enrol for the first time for French Club there will be an initial one-off subscription of £10.95 entitling each child to Le Club Francais membership, CD and songbook, stickers and certificate as well as a promo code to access the fun and interactive website, Babelzone. Please make cheques payable to LE CLUB FRANCAIS and write your child’s name on the back of the cheque and attach with your booking form. After School Clubs Ballet – Ms Maria Tennant These dance lessons will involve exploring space, rhythm and musicality. This will be combined with basic ballet movements to help with confidence and the enjoyment of dance. Let your child shine and learn how to improve balance, coordination and performance while dancing beautiful movements of ballet. Creative variations are combined with technique, posture exercises and great music. Advanced French – Les Coccinelles These lessons are designed for those children who already speak French at home and will involve reading, written and oral work with an emphasis on grammar, spelling and learning new vocabulary. Multi Sports- SuperSports Multi Sports is a fun and challenging way to introduce a variety of sports to young children. We aim to develop their skills and confidence through a wide range of activities and games. Multi Sports is an excellent starting point for a childs involvement in sport Film Club – Extended Schools Team The perfect end to the week, kick back and enjoy a film along with some popcorn, what better way to end the week! Spanish- Miss Patricia Ibarra Learning a language can be lots of fun. Why choose Spanish as your new foreign language? It is the second most spoken language in the world! Children will be exposed to the Spanish language and culture in a relaxed and fun environment. Your child will pick up the Spanish language really easily and will be very enthusiastic about the progress that they are making! They will benefit from games, music, role play, storytelling, competitions and visual aids that will give them real opportunities to show off their new skills. Bongo Drums – Mr Stephen Payne This is a fun introduction into the world of percussion, helping children to improve their co-ordination and rhythm skills and cultivates an appreciation for team work and co-operation. They harmoniously bring diverse people, instruments and musical styles together.
