Discovering DNA: Science Symposium Information
All 7H students are required to take part in the Science Symposium on Thursday, November 10, 2016,
7-8 pm. In order to meet the requirements for this project, students must research genetic engineering
and DNA fingerprinting, participate in the field trip, and create a Tri-board to display their results. All
Tri-boards must be organized using the format below.
Parents are invited to view the presentations on the evening of the Science Symposium. Be sure they
are accurate, neat, typed, and labeled. Students are required to stand at their project the evening of the
Symposium for the purpose of answering questions or providing explanations. Be proud of your
work!!!
The timeline for the Symposium is included in this packet, as well as the scoring rubric. Please transfer
all due dates into your planner so you do not turn in anything late!!! This project is mandatory and
must be satisfactorily completed in order to remain in the honors class. 10 points a day will be
deducted for any portions that are handed in late.
After you have read this assignment sheet with your parents and agree to the honors project
criteria, please sign the attached contract. Return the signed contract to your science teacher,
where it will be kept on file.
