Use the Auto Fill feature to fill cells with data that follows a pattern or that is based on data in
other cells.
To complete this workbook, you will need the following file:

You will save your workbook as:

Start Excel. Open the file e04_Auto_Fill, and then save it in your chapter folder as e04_
Auto_Fill_Your_Name

Click cell B4, type Monday point to the fill handle, and then drag across to cell G4. As you
drag, the days of the week display in the ScreenTip as shown in Figure 1.

Excel’s Auto Fill feature can generate a series of values into adjacent cells, based on the
value of other cells. A series is a group of things that come one after another in succession. For example, January, February, March, and so on, is a series. Likewise, 1st Qtr,
2nd Qtr, 3rd Qtr, and 4th Qtr form a series.

Click cell A5 and type Area 1 Click cell A5 again, and then drag the fill handle down
through cell A7. Notice how Excel generates a series that follows the pattern.

Save

your workbook. Submit as directed, and then Close the workbook and Close Excel.
