The Lighthouse - Seahaven Academy

The Lighthouse Term One — October 2016 forward to a well ‐ deserved week of rest and recupera on. Having said that, the rest may come a li le later for all those se ng off on the Ba lefields trip to Belgium on Saturday! For the last 3 weeks, we have been welcoming parents of Year 6 students who asked to visit following the Open Evening in September. The Open Evening was so well a ended that for the first me we didn’t have anywhere near enough chairs and the staff and students were kept extremely busy with their demonstra ons and displays all evening. We had arranged for a week of morning tours and have had to extend this to three weeks of morning and TEACHING AND LEARNING @ SEAHAVEN ACADEMY Term 1 at Seahaven Academy has passed very quickly and students are all looking Seahaven Academy Southdown Road Newhaven East Sussex BN9 9JL t 01273 517601 e offi[email protected] www.seahavenacademy.org.uk a ernoon tours to accommodate all those who wanted to visit. It has been fantas c to receive so much posi ve feedback from new parents (which we always pass on to the students), and has also meant that I have been able to get a really good overview of the day‐to‐
Students in year 7 have really se led in quickly and are feeling very much at home. They have adapted to our strict rou nes well and are making new friends. We have been really impressed that so many have wanted to stay behind to the increased range of clubs and the homework support arranged for this year. Year 8 is our biggest year group and there is a genuine buzz in their lessons. Some of the maths and English they have been doing this term is very challenging, but they are just ge ng on with it. Years 9 and 10 are working hard on their GCSE courses. With so many changes to the exam systems, they have a lot to do but they take it all in their stride. Year 11 have been superb! They have an amazing work ethic – revision books are the norm on the tables at break and lunch me ‐ and they are coping with the pressure of exams at the end of this year very well. Another busy term here at Seahaven Academy. We have lots planned for Term 2 of course, but are looking forward to a short break before we start again! Mrs Pringle, Principal TEACHING AND LEARNING @ SEAHAVEN ACADEMY day learning taking place: Prefect Leadership Residen al Trip which was at St Bartz Retreat Centre in Barcombe.
