promote brain fitness.
• The entire community, including all high
school students, were invited to read and
discuss the same book, The Other Wes
Moore, in the summer of 2016.
• Total expenditures rose only 1% over 2015.

COMMUNITY READ 2017
The Library and Centerville High
School invite the entire community
to join us this summer in reading
Outcasts United by Warren
St. John. The book tells the incredible
true story of the Fugees – short for
refugees – a soccer team of refugee
kids living in Clarkston, Georgia. The
book is an engaging look at what it
was like being new to America, and
how the town itself learned to adapt,
benefit, and grow along with their
new neighbors. There are several
ways to get involved:
• Read the book! The library can
assist in finding copies if needed;
• Come to one of our book
discussions in July, offered for both
teens and adults;
• Learn more about refugee
issues by coming to any of three
programs in June, all geared for
adults and high school students.
See the General Events page for
more detail.
