Far North Coast Dance Group
Dear parents and carers
Your child, ____________________________________, has enrolled in our school’s entry for the
Far North Coast Dance Festival. The Yr 5-6 group is being trained by Mrs McDonald, and Mrs
Williams is training the Yr 3-4 group. Mrs Campbell is managing the groups and festival excursion.
The practice sessions are usually held during lunch times and occasionally once a week in class
time.
In order that this valuable time is not wasted for both teacher and the students, the following
expectations apply to all students participating:

positive attitude to dance performance

parental support

quality of dance performance

regular attendance at practice (students who miss 3 or more practice sessions and students
with 85% or below school attendance may not participate)

responsible behaviour (students with 3 or more detentions may not participate)
Children must maintain a high standard of behaviour and commitment to remain in the
group.
The Festival will be held on Monday 29 Tuesday 30 or Wednesday 31 May (to be confirmed),
at The Arts Centre Gold Coast. The group will be required to be at the venue all day for
Technical Dress Rehearsal and the Evening Performance. This means we would leave Tweed
Heads South by bus in the morning and won’t arrive back until about 10 o’clock at night.
Audition: In order to perform, the group will have to pass a video audition towards the end of this
term and perform satisfactorily at the dress rehearsal early in Term 2.
The anticipated costs involved will include:
 $10-Dance Group fee which covers the use of school costumes for all performances
throughout this year (this can be paid at the front office)

cost of transport to The Arts Centre Gold Coast for the performance (approx. $30)

money for an evening meal (e.g.,McDonalds)
It is anticipated that the total cost for all of this will be somewhere near $50.00 but I will let you
know the exact amount once all the arrangements are finalised.

The $10 Dance Group fee is all is that required at this stage (so that fabric can be purchased if
necessary). Children may also be asked to provide some parts of their costumes themselves e.g.
something they already have or a pair of shoes to suit the costume.
You will receive more information as events approach but if you have any questions about your
child’s involvement please contact Mrs Campbell at the school.
At this stage we only need a commitment from you to support your child’s involvement in the
festival, by being willing to meet the costs involved and allowing them to participate in the dance
lessons, to perform in the audition video, and go on the necessary bus trips.
