A Little Bit About Me:
I grew up on a farm near McClusky and attended
school there also. After graduating I married the
love of my Life, Joe. He served in the Air Force
and was in Vietnam. He retired from Coteau where
he was a dragline operator. He now works part time
at Do it Best.
My Family:
I have already told you about my husband. We never had children. But I was so fortunate to be
involved with my brothers and sisters children as
they were growing up. Now I am enjoying seeing
many of their children grow into adulthood and
parenthood.
My Hobbies and Pastimes:
I have toyed with many hobbies/pastimes in the
past, but nothing has really “stuck”. From a young
age I have always enjoyed reading and that has
stuck.
Family Pets:
We have two pets we enjoy very much. Shorti, our
tiny toy poodle. She is the best little dog.
If we had kids I wonder if they would have been as
well behaved as she is. There is our Oz, our Cat.
We brought him home from Kansas when he was
only six weeks old. Hence, his name….he wasn’t in
Kansas anymore.
What I really like about working at KRCC:
Having worked here so many years I have met
many residents. They have so much to offer in rich
stories from their past. Many thank me for what I
do for them. There are so many that will be forever
a part of my heart. I have shared a camaraderie with
many fellow employees that I feel are more than
co-workers.
“My Pride and Joy:
Having started out with nothing I am proud of my
husband and our 46 year marriage and where we
are.
If at First You Don’t Succeed…

“You can never have too many aprons or
too many memories.”
~ EllyAnne Geisel in Apronisms: Pocket Wisdom for Every Day
If I’ve told you once, I’ve told you a thousand times that November 3 is Cliché Day.
Don’t let the mention of another foolish holiday get your goat. Only time will tell whether this holiday stands the test of time.
The term cliché has come to mean “an overused or unoriginal expression.” But the French word cliché is
actually an onomatopoeia: it’s the sound a printing plate makes as it lays its ink on paper in the printing
process. In time, the printing plate itself became known as a cliché. Later, as a tribute to the repetitive
process of mass printing, the term cliché came to refer to any oft-repeated expression. Are you sick and
tired of Cliché Day already but still thirsty for more word-related revelry? November 8 is Aid and Abet
Punsters Day, a day to support anyone daring enough to drop a pun. Clever punsters must rely entirely
on wordplay to get a laugh, sometimes using a word or phrase that sounds like another, such as
“Police were called to a daycare where a three-year-old was resisting a rest.” Or using a word that has
more than one meaning: “I used to be a banker but I lost interest.”
Neurologist James H. Austin, author of Zen and the Brain, attempted to prove the inferiority of puns
using brain MRI scans. When volunteers heard puns, they groaned—activating the left posterior inferior
gyrus and left inferior frontal gyrus of their brains. That hard science is no laughing matter.
Roger That
What is it about the name Rogers in November? The name is shared by
many celebrities born this month. There’s Will Rogers, one of the most
famous satirists of the 1920s and 1930s; he was born November 4,
1879. Roy Rogers, the famous singing cowboy and actor, was born
November 5, 1911. Kenny Rogers (the baseball pitcher who once
pitched a perfect game, not the country music star) was born November
19, 1964. George Rogers Clark, the American Revolutionary War
general known as the “Washington of the West,” was born
November 19, 1752.
Baseball pitcher Buck Rogers was born November 5, 1912, and the first
radio broadcast of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century also aired on
November 7, 1932. If you know anyone expecting a November baby,
suggest Rogers. It just may be the perfect name.

Thanksgiving Holiday Meal with your loved ones is on
Saturday November 21st.
The cost per adult ticket will be $10.00; the cost for a
child 12 years and younger will be $5.00
We are asking family members to purchase a
pre-paid Thanksgiving meal ticket that will be available
for purchase starting October 29th, until the tickets are
sold out. The pre-paid meal ticket reserves your table, so please do not delay in making your

reservations. The meals will be offered at 2 separate times, 11:00 and 1:00. Family members
will need to indicate their time preference when purchasing the prepaid meal ticket. A limited
number of tickets are available, so if you have a preference in the time you would prefer to
eat, please do not delay in purchasing your tickets.
We want to make your holidays a special day for the residents and their families. We look
forward to celebrating with you and your family.
