Rules/Expectations
Aside from the rules and policies aligned in the handbook from the school I have these:
1.RESPECT: respect for the teacher, respect for one another, and respect for oneself.
2. I expect each student to come prepared to class: pencil, book, notebook, and homework completed.
3. I expect each student to ask questions and to be active students; meaning students are participating in
class. Questions are the best way to learn. Even the wisest people still ask questions.
4. I expect each student to always work hard, to not complain about math, and to work well with classmates.
5. I expect all students to do all written work in PENCIL only. If an assignment/homework, test, or quiz is
completed in pen the student can only receive half credit at the most.
6. Please go to the restroom in between periods.
7. It is each student’s responsibility to ask the teacher about missed assignments.
8. I reserve the right to give unannounced assessments at anytime throughout the school year.
9. I expect each student to treat the SmartBoard as if it was their own possession.
10. Use common sense (i.e.):
· Arrive on time.
· Raise your hand before speaking.
· Listen to others and participate in class discussions.
· Use the pencil sharpener during noninstructional time.
· Stay on task.
· Do your assignments.
· Bring materials and have them ready.
· Listen to directions.
· Cooperate with your group.
· Pick up after yourself.
· Leave other people's materials alone.
· Do not interrupt other students' learning.
· Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.
· Keep your hands clean and take care of personal hygiene in the rest room during breaks.
· No vandalism. Don't write or carve on your desk or school property.
11. I expect each student to explore their creativity and expand their knowledge in this class.
12. Finally, I expect each student to have fun, laugh a lot, and walk out of the classroom each day knowing
more about math!!
Technology and Social Media:
I understand that technology and social media can and will be a distraction. It is
extremely important that each of us does our best to remain respectful as learners and
digital citizens. There will be consequences if the technology disrupts the learning
environment – this means your own personal learning environment or the learning
environment of those around you.
Please refer to the following as technology policies in Mr. Kaple’s classroom.
1. No one is to use headphones during large class discussion, small group discussion,
or assessments.
2. No one is to take pictures of any assessment. This will result in an F on the
assessment and will have disciplinary consequences.
3. No one is to take pictures of other students or teachers without their consent.
4. No one is to use Facebook, Twitter, FaceTime, Messages,Texting, SnapChat,
Tumblr, Vine, Instagram, or other social media during class time – from bell to bell.
5. No one is to use YouTube for any purpose other than education.
6. Cell phones and other devices are ONLY to be used during DESIGNATED TIMES.
