Liner Notes
“Where the Streets Have No Name” by U2 This song reminds me of the monster’s first experiences after
being created by Victor Frankenstein, particularly the lines: “I wanna run, I want to hide, I wanna tear
down the walls that hold me inside, I wanna reach out and touch the flame, where the streets have no
name.” The monster is overwhelmed by sights and sounds. This song captures his mixture of emotions,
such as fear, innocence, and wonder.
“Moonlight Sonata” by Ludwig von Beethoven The melody of this classical piano piece is haunting and
melancholy. It is a sad song that represents the aching loneliness of the creature. It evokes the long
nights that he spent alone, gazing up at the moon and stars as he contemplated his place in the world.

Dreamy Improvisation
(after the painting by Wassily Kandinsky)
What the marmoset dreams
how the rhinoceros
the giraffe
improvise their world
turn man and beast
tree and sky to
sympathetic creatures
visions
of another kind
(squirrelly lines
protozoan shapes
feathery hues)
how they dream
of creation
life and after-life
how to survive
in a treacherous world
