THE WIDEWELL WEEKLY Widewell Primary Academy Newsletter Website: widewellprimary.eschools.co.uk Facebook page www.facebook.com/WidewellPrimary Thursday 7th July 2016 Twitter Account twitter.com/widewellprimary Dear Parents and Carers Thank you to everyone who was able to support Olivia and Chloe as they took over the school for the day yesterday. All of the children seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day and it was great to have good weather for the picnic lunch! The girls have raised £82.30 for playtime equipment with their ‘No bake’ sale and will be looking at catalogues to choose the equipment before the end of term. Tomorrow you will be receiving a copy of your child’s report for the year. We are using a new format which follows our detailed tracking system for every child. Inside the envelope will be a feedback form for you to comment on both your child’s report and the new format, if you would like to. I hope you find them informative and a real reflection of all the hard work that has gone on across the school this year. We are hoping to be able to hold Sports Day on Wednesday next week. If it looks like we have to cancel for any reason I will put a message on Facebook and email you by 8am on the morning. The Ark Community Project have been working with the gardening team of year 6 pupils and with the help of money they raised £138 plus a donation of £200 from the local Rotary Club it has enabled supplies and plants to be bought to renovate the entrance garden to the school. The team comprises of Miles, Anna, Esther, Archie and Denisa, who have worked really hard to plan, dig and plant the garden. We have a few more things to finish off and the Year 6 children hope to have it complete within the next few weeks. Healthy June This week we have been focusing on good dental hygiene and the importance of looking after your teeth. We have been lucky to have had the Teeth on Tour resources from the Peninsular Dental School. The children have learnt how to correctly brush their teeth and been given tips to ensure all teeth are sparkling and clean! We feel that good dental hygiene is very important for the children to understand as our teeth are precious and it doesn't take much to look after them. All children in Nursery, Foundation and KS1 came home on Tuesday with a toothbrush for them to use at home. If you would like to find out more about teeth and how to clean them, have a look at the following links: http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/dentalhealth/Pages/Careofkidsteeth.aspx http://www.colgate.co.uk/app/BrightSmilesBrightFutures/UK/Program-Materials/KidsGames/Games.cvsp Happy Brushing!
