May 2015
Dear Parent
YEAR 8/9 SPANISH RESIDENTIAL TRIP JULY 2016
The Spanish Departments within the Stamford Endowed Schools are very keen to
encourage all students to become confident in their speaking and listening skills.
We are therefore delighted to offer students in Years 8 and 9 (academic year
2015-16), the chance to visit the Arbolar Centre in Cartagena, Spain for five days
during the summer holidays.
The Arbolar Centre is a residential language immersion facility on the beachfront
in Cartagena, situated within easy reach of both Alicante and Murcia airports. The
centre offers a range of super activities, all of which will be conducted in Spanish,
and which will give our students the chance to develop their language skills as well
as learn about Spanish culture, all in a fun and positive environment. The students
will have language lessons in the mornings, and their afternoon activities will
include kayaking, beach games, local excursions and traditional workshops. The
students will also have the chance to shop at a local market and take the
opportunity to practise their Spanish.
The trip will take place from Thursday 7th July to Monday 11th July 2016. The
students will be accommodated in dormitories with en-suite facilities and airconditioning. We will travel by coach to and from the airports, departing early
morning on 7th July and returning late evening on 11th July. There will be 30
places available offered on a first come, first served basis. The cost will be £630.
Due to the popularity of this residence, we need to confirm our booking at the
beginning of June; we therefore ask you to complete the form attached confirming
your interest, and we require an immediate deposit of £100, which will signify your
commitment to the trip. If, for any reason, we are unable to confirm the minimum
number of places required for that week, this deposit would, of course, be returned.
However, we will retain your deposit, which will become non-refundable, if the trip
proceeds as outlined above. The balance of the trip will be split between the
Autumn Term and Spring Term billing.
