House of Burgesses Simulation Speed Sheet: You will have 5 minutes to complete the speed sheet you picked up from the front of the classroom. FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS! House of Burgesses Simulation • Each student will draw a notecard. • Red Dots: Sit at the special table in the middle of the room • Green Dots: Sit at the other tables around the room. • Blank Notecards: Sit on the floor. House of Burgesses Simulation • RED DOTS, you will create 3 new rules that will last the rest of the week in class • Now, GREEN DOTS, you will have only 30 seconds to voice your ideas about the rules to the RED DOTS • BLANK CARDS: You will sit and listen, and you will follow all rules. You are not allowed to talk. • RED DOTS, you now have 4 minutes to come up with new/improved laws. House of Burgesses Simulation •I, the GOVERNOR, will have the final authority to approve laws. •In making my decision, I will keep in mind what Dr. Paz, the KING, would approve. REFLECTION • On the given BLANK notecard, write your name at the top, and answer the following questions according to YOUR ROLE played in the simulation: • REPRESENTATIVES: Do you feel like you had all the power? Why or why not? • LAND-OWNERS: You voted for these representatives, did they listen to your ideas about the rules? Were you happy about that, why or why not? • SLAVES, INDENTURED SERVANTS, and POOR PEOPLE: How did you feel throughout this simulation?
