Aim: 1. To enjoy movement and develop physical co-ordination. 2. To use the movement of the body as an illustration of how we should work together in the Christian life. Syllabus is available from Headquarters annually in the form of a PE Set (which is also used for competitions). Ask the girls to think about what each part of their body has been doing. What would happen if their feet decided they didn’t want to do PE anymore, and they just stopped working? What if their hands decided what the head was doing was more fun and tried to do that instead? We only have one body, but every part of it is very different. They all know what to do at the right time because the brain tells them. The Bible tells us (1 Corinthians 12) that the Christian life is a lot like that. God made each of us different. Some of us will be hands, others feet. We do not have the same jobs to do, but we do have to work together. Some people are good at music, others are writers, others do well at school or win at sports. Some people may be excellent at telling others about Jesus. Perhaps you are good at encouraging people who don’t have many friends, maybe you make people feel welcome at church, the list is endless…. Sometimes our churches are like bodies with lots of hands or feet, but nothing else, just because people are afraid to find out what God wants THEM to do. Don’t just try to be the same as everybody else, find out what you are good at (your gift) and then use it to serve God! Give the girls some time to think about what they enjoy doing, or what they are good at, then encourage them to think about how that talent can be used for God. Reassure them that everyone has a gift, sometimes they just haven’t realised they are good at something. Perhaps they could help each other to see what they are good at. Encourage the girls to thank God for giving them a talent and to ask Him to help them use it, or discover more clearly what it is.
